I wonder why Edward and Co. don't just drink medical blood. Is it because it is considered "dead blood", because I would think with such extensive forgary skills it wouldn't be that hard to get it. Does the thrill of the chase factor into this question?

hmm
Well, I remember in part of the book Edward says that sometimes their thirst grows too dominant or something along those lines. So I just assumed they drank medical blood when it got bad.

Ummm...I don't think I ever really thought of this possibility much, but I think there has to be a difference, huge...starting with the temperature.
When drinking from a human, or animal the blood would be warm, and hospital/medical blood would need to be kept cool in order to make sure it's still 'good', right?
Maybe besides the fact that hunting must bring some sort of pleasure to the factor since they get to be free and a bit of who they truely are as vampire creatures, the thought of cold refrigerated blood doesn't strike me like it would be appealing to them

I think it has to do with the fact that if they had human blood at all it would be harder to resist humans at all.
Plus doesn't Edward talk about how they are envirnmentally careful when they hunt? I mean I'm thinking blood banks have enough trouble keeping up stock as it is without the Cullen family going through the supplies.

I didn't think about that. That is probably the reason because I know that the banks can only keep the blood for a set time so I figured it wouldn't matter if the Cullens got what was about to expire.

I recall reading a fic once where Edward was going to propose to Bella (gotta love them fanfics for keeping your fangirl heart entertained) and he poured himself some blood collected from the hospital saying that Carlisle keeps a few in the house for special occasions. I guess having a "medical" blood stash is the equivalent of a human having a wine cellar.
