Er, no. I think if anything she's become a lot stronger, and less dependant on Edward in New Moon, but after that whole ordeal I guess it's to be expected..
You and I are both the same. We kill out of indifference, out of love sometimes, but never out of hate. Now I don't know who's dead or alive. I'm sick of killing. So I'm leaving the game, Brother.

I think that Bella reacted just like anyone that much in love would. Plus I don't really see someone wimpy jumping off a cliff and then racing to a strange country where she has every reason to believe she'll watch Edward kill himself and then be killed by a whole different kind of scary vamp. To me, that equals not so wimpy.

No, I agree with Cullenfreak, her reaction to Edward leaving was completely as expected for someone that deep in a relationship. Besides, Edward wasn't the only one leaving her. She lost an entire family, a family that she had planned to be a part of, she lost the future that she wanted when they left. Thats not something easily left behind.

She isn't wimpy at all. She reacted as was to be expected for losing someone you love so deeply. In fact, I think the entire ordeal has made her stronger, from Edward leaving to Volterra.

Well said!!! Not only did she lose the love of her life but also the family and future she had wanted and loved...she basically lost everything important to her (with the exception of her parents)
His gold eyes grew very soft. "You said you loved me."
"You knew that already," I reminded him, ducking my head.
"It was nice to hear, just the same."
I hid my face against his shoulder.
"I love you," I whispered.
"You are my life now," he answered simply.

NO she's not wimpy. Imagine losing somebody like Edward. I think she was strong. She made an effort to live...without the one thing she wanted to live for. Anybody else that far in would want an easy way out...maybe just kill themselves. I'm a 100% Bella and Edward supporter....I don't think of them badly at all!

I look at it this way. The first guy she ever falls hard for dumps her and she:

1) Doesn't throw herself into a relationship with the more than willing Mike.

2) She's tempted by Jacob but that relationship grows out of a friendship first.

3) She doesn't panic when alone with Laurant

4) She logically put herself in harm's way like a petrie dish experiment, call it controlled danger, or danger with a plan.

5) She goes to Italy to save him.

6) Doesn't freak out in the room of Jane, Aro, and the other psycho vampires

7) She doesn't freak out when "dinner" arrives.

8) she manages to stand up to Charlie knowing it may damage their relationship.

9) She doesn't say yes to the first sign of an off-the-cuff marriage proposal.

10) She carefully thinks out why she wants to be a vampire.

If this is a whimp, someone needs to rethink their dictionary.

I look at it this way, anyone who thinks strong females don't have emotional breakdowns is living in a fantasy world. The uber-strong female who is never emotionally vulnerable is as much of a myth as is the smiling Carol Brady cookiebaker mom. In the end I think Bella's breakdown makes her real. The fact that she pulls herself out of depression when she lives with an emotionally distant father without a clue, a childish and emotionally immature mother, and a small town with no close friends save maybe Angela...it's amazing she did pull it together.
