The Hair Thread

Post by prosper »

This is a thread for hair woes, tips, cuts, and other hair discussion. You can ask hair advice on dyes and cuts, and recommend products to your fellow Lexiconians.

To start, I need hair help. I have thick hair, and it gets residue and build-up mostly in the back of my head. I've tried billions of clarifying shampoos, including: Nexxus Aloe Rid, Suave Professionals clarifying shampoo, and Suave daily clarifying shampoo. Nothing really seems to help. I need tips on how to wash my hair and with what. Open to suggestions! (And I don't know if it matters or not, but i need something safe for color treated hair and i flat iron my hair, too.)

Well.
You can use Pantene Pro-V color treated whatever whatever.
It works!
but.
i would recomend the next time you go to your hairdresser.
Tell them.
Tell her/him you get buildup.
AND.
Ask them to thin it out a little.
Hope it helps!

If you flat iron your hair, I would recommend using a flat iron with cremic plates. They won't damage your hair nearly as much as metal plates do.

And for colored hair (if the pantene doesn't work), I'd suggest Herbal Essences for color treated hair. My sister uses it and she says its fabulous. :D

And, I'd go with what TD said for the hair buildup problem.

I LOVE my flat iron, it's Chi with ceramic plates. :D

But the build-up thing...I've been getting my hair thinned out for years. And for a week or two after i get my hair cut it's clean and manageable. But then it goes right back to feeling thick and full of residue. :(

I have problems with my hair. This is the thread for me.
My hair is thick, curly when wet but mainly underneath when dry and frizzy. I mainly put it back in a bun. It is my heater if i am absolutely freezing. to get a feeling of how thick my hair is when i am in a pool and my hair is just in over the front of my face i can't breath because it blocks all the air!
but everyone says it is sooo pretty. anyone know how to make it stay curly other than yucky hairspray? i love it when its wet but when it drys... just frizz and puff... I really want something that will keep it curly and nonfrizz?

Ok, I have thin, fine, oily, stringy hair. I've been trying to find new styles, but there are SO many things that I can't do with my hair because it's so thin! Is there anyone out there with thin hair who can give me a few ideas??

Get layers and blow dry your hair by drying it upside down (you flip your head and blow dry it like that). It will become more 'full'. Hope that made sense.

RosiePosie: I have slightly curly hair too, and when the humidity strikes it gets a little frizzy. I sometimes use this straighten stuff (I'll go look for the bottle- it's just stuff you apply to your hair after you wash it), and it manages the frizz but still keeps some of the curl.

I have the same problem.
I have curly hair too.My hair gets SO frizzy.I know what you mean by how good it looks when it is wet. Here is what I do

-first after I get out of the shower and my hair is still wet i use sunsilk de-frizzing cream(it is in a green bottle)

-then I use Tresemme mousse extra hold.this keeps my hair looking like it does when it is wet but it is dry.Does that make any sense.

Well i hope that helps!

I found this hairdo that I absolutely LOVE, but it for straight hair, and I have wavy hair, so his should work.

Hae you ever seen Teen Titans, and how Raven's hair looks like? That's exactly what it is, but shorter. I'll try to fina a link or something. I'll be back.
