I'm just wondering why the Volturi would have a human working for them in that capacity. After all, their primary rule is to remain unknown by humans. The only thing I can think of is that a vampire would be completely unable to act as a secretary, considering it's a sit-down sedentary activity, and most vampires seem to need to do something with their boundless energy.

Does anyone know about this?

I've always assumed the Volturi did not want their human food to freak out too soon--though the escort could restrain whomever thought of trying to escape, I've gotten the impression that the vampires prefer to kill their own meal; not drink from someone who's been dead a few minutes.

A human such as Gianna in the reception area just perpetuated the myth a few more minutes, so everyone was calmly herded into the feeding room.

kind of gross and thoroughly evil, eh?

yea. Maybe she's a cannibal.

How do you figure? She wasn't eating people, the Volturi were. She was just keeping them calm until they got to the feeding room.

^^^hehehe. I was joking. That just meant that she wants to be a vampire (right) so she is willingly going to drink human blood. Thats the sort of cannibalism i was joking about.
But still. It's like she wants to be a monster. The volturei vampires are like monsters in the way that they take human life- she is assisting that. That's a bit odd.

Gianna has serious problems
I see you're having trouble accepting the fact that I'm in love with a vampire....a fictional, vampire.

I can understand why she wants to be one of the Volturi. I guess she likes them - and probably doesn't know of vampires who don't drink from humans; it's normal for them!
I mean, come on, how many of you guys want to be a Cullen. Honestly?
I do! And most readers do, so I can empathise with Gianna. The Volturi are her Cullens.

i kind of liked gianna in the fact that she is so professional. in fact, she's kind of cool i nthe fact that she isn't paralyzed by fear from being around vampires. i mean, she even flirts with them! and the whole thing that she's bad for wanting to be one of the voturi is a little mean. seriously, they are the elite of the vampire world. for her, it'd be considered an honor to become one of them. at least, that's what i think she thinks.

I think Gianna is seduced by the myth. She's probably read a lot of vampire books and watched a lot of vampire movies and wants to be part of that. She wants the power and eternal life and doesn't really consider that she'd be eating people. It's still too unobtainable to her to worry about actually drinking blood; it's still just her little fantasy bit up from too many movies.
