Melanie
I liked very much Melanie's character, specially because of how much she worried for his little brother. She seemed to hate the aliens (and becoming one of them, too, when she thought that Jared was one), and missed humans and her parents.
And at first, her reaction with Jared was a little violent. But she was a good person with him later, so I think she's a little impetuous when she doesn't know someone.

I think Melanie is an awesome character. Because the story is told mostly from Wanderers POV, you sometimes can't help but want things to go her way instead of Melanie's. You know that its Melanie who deserves her own body and Jared, but Wanderer is so nice and caring. You really just want the couples to be together- but in their own body. Melanie is incredibly strong though, and surprisingly okay with Wanderer being mostly in control of her body. If it were me, I don't think i'd be able to get over the fact that somebody took over my body and I couldn't do anything about it- which is why Melanie is so great, because i would want to make them as miserable as possible. (perhaps singing the Henry the 8th song over and over again :p)

Have you read the book already? You seem to be very informed, I deffinately didn't get all that from reading the excerpts once. I'll probably have to go back and look.LillyBilly wrote:I think Melanie is an awesome character. Melanie
I think that Melanie is an interesting charcter but that she is literally battling some "inside" struggle. Im excited to see how her character develops in The Host.

I know, and it's hard to empathize with the souls at first because you know that they've "invaded" someone else's body. Remember though how much Melanie fights against Wanderer in the beginning though? Enough to give Wanderer doubts on her abilities.LillyBilly wrote:I think Melanie is an awesome character. i just read the sneak preview on host and i was blown away
melanie must have a really strong soul to be able to get through to the wanderer
like you people said, if something took over my body i would just isng the song that never ends over and over
its hard to see a happy ending for melanie though
i havent even read the book and i pity her
