1. We get our first glimpse of "real" vampires in this chapter. What was your impression of them as a group and as individuals? Did you connect the fact that their red eyes had to do with the type of blood they drank?
Completely uncivilized and not as refined and wonderful as the Cullens :) Laurent seemed like the strongest. James seemed shy. Victoria was just kind of creepy and paranoid. and I actually did connect the human blood to the red eyes (go me! I figured something out!!)

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?
There was something different. Instead of having to protect Bella from himself (he already knows he could never live with himself hurting her) Edward has to worry about what will happen now that she's been exposed to other vampires and is in even more danger

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?
I figured out another thing when I read this part! I was very proud of myself!! haha I actually realized then that Alice meant to change Bella because then she wouldn't be in danger.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point?
Bella had the better plan. With Edward's plan there would have ended up being a huge mess because he would have basically been kidnapping the police chief's daughter. But I doubt I would have been able to come up with a better idea :P
Team Edward!

1. We get our first glimpse of "real" vampires in this chapter. What was your impression of them as a group and as individuals? Did you connect the fact that their red eyes had to do with the type of blood they drank?
I did connect their eyes with their choice of blood, but I didn't like them. They weren't like the Cullens, they seemed rigid or something like that...it was weird. I don't know, I just didn't like them...their attitude was nice, but then automatically changed... :?

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?
Yes, it did feel different, it automatically took a faster pace. With Edward, the danger slowly rises every day..but this danger is serious right away.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?
I think the other option is killing the vampires, which they could easily do...OR turn Bella into a vampire. It is an option, it was going to happen anyway, and it would stop them from drinking her blood during her transformation...Edward knows what Alice is thinking, and he knows that can't happen at the moment, so..he decides against it.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?
Edward's plan wasn't thought out, he had no clue where he was going or anything...Bella's made more sense, it removed suspicion from Charlie's mind, and it warded off the other vampires. So, I think that although Bella suffered pain at the end, her decision was best. She got a taste of how real the danger is.

I knew that they were bad news bears when they showed up, and I was very nervous even from the first sight of them. I think that Edward had already said that they drank human blood, so I subconsciously connected that with the red eyes.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

Yes. I felt that there were things changing in the 'feel' of the book. It was, maybe just to me, much more life-threatening serious. Up to this point, it was more development of Edward and Bella's relationship, and now it was time to test that relationship.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

I was very puzzled as to what the heck they were talking about. I think it was the first taste of Edward showing blatant anger, and that was a little eye opening as to just how scrweed up the situation was.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point?

Ha ha. Well, obviously I would have (and still do somewhat) wanted Edward to stay with her. I mean, James was smarter than I think they gave him credit for. I wouldn't have done what Bella did'"go where you told him you would. If he figures it out, then there is only one place you could be. If he is hunting for you in other places, then he has a large area he needs to cover.

They weren't too friendly as the Cullens were. And I didn't connect that fact to the blood they drank. I thought that eye's colors changed depending on where the vampire were changed (silly, I know).

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

Well, it had to happen. There had to be some action in the book, not just romance and knowing about vampires.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

Changing Bella. That was because Edward was so angry.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?

Who knows that? I would really liked to know how the book would have been if Bella payed attention to Edward's plan. Or if he had gone with Bella to Phoenix, how would have it changed everything or not.

Immediately. Human blood=burgundy eyes.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I felt the same way. I was totally enjoying the book, but it was an ambling plot until this point. Here the action started.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

With all the talk they'd done earler in the day about how everyone else was changed by Carlisle... it was on mind and immediatley what I thought of.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you ahve suggestions over what they shuld have done differently at this point?

Edward's plan was pretty foolish. They would've just been followed. Of course, if they would have turned around and attacked like Emmett wanted and won, it would have solved problems later. Otherwise, Bella's plan was the best. Except for the part later when she calls her home in Pheonix. Shouldn't have done that.

1. Well, I was convinced that Victoria was Jean Grey from X-Men. I read the description, and I was like, Oh, wow! It's Jeeeeeeeeeeean! As for their eyes, I guess I connected it subconciously.

2. I had the same feeling as I did when I read the Port Angeles part with the weird stalkers. Those two parts stuck out as being different from the rest.

3. Well, now I think she was probably suggesting that Edward bite Bella. After all, that's what happened with her. (reads what other people said) Seems like that's what most people think.

4. I think it probably would have worked out pretty similar in the end. Actually, I can't remember what Edward's plan was...

There appearance was just off for me, because I was so used to the Cullens. The word sinister just screamed in my head when James and Victoria were described. I liked Laurent though. He cracked me up when he said "you brought a snack." I thought the meaning behind the eye color was fairly obvious.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different?

I thought the plot just shifted a bit. The tone and rhythm changed to give the reader a sense of danger and urgency.

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is?

I have a tendency to speed read through books so I must admit that when I first read this part I was lost. I was taken aback by the magnitude of Edward's anger, and I knew I was missing something. It wasn't until I read the ending and went back to this part that I understood what was going on.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point?

I think under the circumstances Bella had the best plan. I have a suggestion but it belongs with Ch. 20.

1. We get our first glimpse of "real" vampires in this chapter. What was your impression of them as a group and as individuals? Did you connect the fact that their red eyes had to do with the type of blood they drank? I thought they were a bit scary. In the Norwegian version of the books they are described as catlooking-creatures. I don't like cats  I didn't know about the eye-thing then, I think. But I quickly understood that these vampires were not as civilized as the Cullens, and that they did not have the same point of views, all though Laurent does not seem to get bothered by Bella's present.

2. To me, the book takes on a second sort of plot right here with the emergence of Bella being hunted and put in danger by someone other than Edward. Up until know, the book had a much different feel and rhythm. Do you get the same impression or did you feel something different? I just thought; oh no, why does she do this to me? XD But the chase is one of the best parts of the book. We really get to know the Cullens. Specially Alice and Jasper. And the fear I felt when Bella meets James !!

3. On page 383, Alice says that there is another option than just running away, which angers Edward into saying, "There-is-no-other-option." What's your take on this moment and what do you think that other option is? Maybe to change Bella into a vampire. I think Edward's to obsessed with keeping Bella away from James that he in a way isn't thinking straight. And if Alice actually was thinking that they could change Bella into a vampire, I think he was angry.

4. Do you think that Bella had the best plan? Do you think things would have worked out better had they gone with Edward's plan? Considering how things worked out, do you have suggestions over what they should have done differently at this point? Since I can't remember Edwards plan, I don't know. I think that Bella's plan was a good plan, but it failed. And the outcome here was very lucky; Bella could have died.
I've already heard this before.
