I thought so the first times I read Eclipse, but then I began to think it was just coincidence and pure luck for Victoria. First off, did she ever find out that Alice is a seer? I can't remember reading anything that confirms Victoria knowing of Alice's gifts.
Remember that Laurent spent time with the Denali coven, who know of Alice's abilities. So maybe it was luck, or maybe she had inside sources.

Yes, I forgot about Laurent. He would certainly have told Victoria all he found out about the Cullens, while he visited the Denali. That makes it a lot more plausible, that Victoria's handling of her army of newborns was done on purpose.

Mmm-hmm. No doubt about it. Victoria's so very clever.

I was on this vampire lore site the other day (don't ask), and I came across this little interesting tidbit. Paraphrase:

In some legends, vampires are said to be the descendants of Judas Iscariot. Iscariot had red hair, and some people still consider redheaded-vampires to be the most dangerous of all.

Depending on what you believe in, of course. I wonder if Stephenie has read that? Or is it just coincidence?

I hate Victoria. It wasn't enough that she tried to kill Bella in Twilight, then try to kill her in New Moon for a very dumb reason but she then ruined all those peoples lives just to try and kill Bella again. All those people she turned who had lives and hopes and futures are now dead for a very dumb reason. Take poor Bree for instance. She was only fifteen. She had her whole life ahead of her and it was taken and she was changed for Victoria's sake. Then she along with all the other newborns was pretty much thrown into the gladiator pit. Victoria knew they were going to die. she changed them knowing they would get killed for her own benefit. And then she pretended to love poor Riley so he would do what she said. She ruined so many lives. I'm so glad she is out of the picture. I don't know how much more of her I could take.

I...like Victoria. I find myself heavily drawn to her and Tanya and Irina. Victoria is so lost in her life without James, we get that. She reasons with herself that Edward must feel the pain she feels, he needs to be the one left alive. If I were her, if I were Victoria you better believe I'd think the same thing. She did terrible things, things that most of us hate her for now like turning Riley and Bree and causing them all to die once and then to die yet again.

Still...having be hurt so deeply before Victoria has a special place in my heart and I won't soon forget her passion and complete inability to even function after the loss of James. I think she handled herself incorrectly but I also think that the amount of damage she endured to her cold heart was so intense that she didn't-no, she couldn't bother care about the fates of others. She only saw the end of the tunnel and that was Bella's death. Putting it in perspective, if someone killed Bella I think Edward would be pretty devastated.

I really hate her but I understand where she is coming from because I bet that, that Bella or Edward would've done that if it ever happened to them.

Yes, I think this is a common place for conclusion jumping; a fun sport that ends in much disaster. The first time we see Victoria she is with James standing behind Laurent. She's been with him as far back as the Twilight Universe allows and with vampires there's only one chance at love. With James Victoria was mildly tame. They killed to feed like many other vampires, but not mass slaughter like we know her for. When James was killed the cage was unlocked and the only thing that seemed right was to just kill and kill and keep killing until she killed the mate of the man who killed her love. Even then her heart, though stagnant, would still bleed.

If this happened to ANY of the other characters the light of their world would be stripped from their site as well leaving them quite alone, devastated and distraught in the darkness only able to lash out in any direction they choose, and not care about what they hit. Do not lie, Edward wouldn't be able to function if Bella actually was killed, or vice versa. I mentioned this before about Jane, but vampire infrastructure is so very fragile and their chances at happiness so finite that if something disrupts their one shot to suffer for an eternity with the one person on the planet they love they can do nothing but lose all hope and drag anyone they can down with them.

I seriously laughed so hard when the character Victoria was introduced. Coz my name's Victoria.

Maybe that's why I don't hate her. Or maybe its because she's just misunderstood. Or maybe she's a character that seem to have led an incredibly tragic life. Everything's in Bella's perspective, so it's sometimes hard to like the characters that she hates. Victoria's character reminds me of Ophelia from Hamlet: someone who lost her mind because of love and loss.
