Hmmm, good point. I think that's why a lot of people like her-- she's your "normal, average" girl, which makes it easy for a lot of girls to relate to her. That's understandable.

I really don't relate with Bella at all, though. I mean yeah, I like reading. I'm clumsy. I do well in school, except for in math (Math was the first class I've ever gotten an A- in :(. I hate it). But physically and personality-wise, I'm so unlike her. I've never been able to relate to her very well. Her "average-ness" makes her seem like she lacks a personality (IMO). Maybe I'm just weird :).

Well sure..For the most part, I can relate to Bella...But her complete dependence on other people (mainly Edward)..UGH! I cannot relate to her complete need to cling to Edward then to Jacob then back again to Edward..Its sick...She needs to stand on her own two feet and find happiness outside of her love interests...

I Completely Agree!
I think bella should learn how to be comfortable with herself before being with anyone because its obvious that she isnt when she is completely clinging to Edward alllll the time. (IMO)

I can relate to her in the school sense, moving schools in the middle of the year but not her clumsyness. But I totally agree with RunsWithWolves and wampF!GHT. She throws herself completely at Edward (and Jake in New Moon) and clings to the point where it's annoying. Ugh. Also I wonder if as a child she didn't have enough love in her life. Her parents divoriced, her father obviously loves her but doesn't know how to really physically show it. Her mother is so worrysome that it's almost annoying rather than a loving-protective mother. And did this carry over into being a teenager. She found such a true love, so good that it couldn't be true, that she's afraid it's all not real, afraid to let go if something really did happen to her loved one.

I feel like she doesn't have any self-confidence in herself at all (I'm sure I'm over-exagerating a little bit) too. She needs someone else to prove that she can have self-confidence. That she is able to do something, to be strong enough to get over something and confident enough. She crumbled like no other when Edward left, though I'm sure most of us would but for months and months? Though this is most likely a playing factor into why the Twilight Saga is so good-A love so strong that a person can barely function without the other. They literally left half their heart with the person.

i think bella is relatable because really, she's made up of my inner weaknesses. my insecurity, my clumsiness, my clinginess when i love something, it's all in bella.

the problem for me is that i know that i, personally, succumb to those things only in moments of weakness. except the clumsiness. that's there all the time. but that's all bella is. so on the surface she is relatable, but in reality, most girls are so much more than her.

this is why i think bella has the potential to be great if she can grow a bit and become her own person, and the bella she is now will become her sort of, weak inner self. the embodiment of her insecurities. i call my inner issues my "inner bella". no joke.

First off, I agree with what you said. Bella has potential. She just needs to grow up and develope her sense of self.

Also, thank you! I'm glad you like it! If you like it that much, you could steal it and I can make myself a different banner..I wouldn't mind at all, so just thought I'd make the offer :)

I agree too.
Alot of girls are like her, where they cant be by themselves and are insecure. Even I can be that at times so i guess alot of people could relate to Bella for that reason. But like RunsWithWolves said she needs to grow up and find who she really is and what she wants in her life.

well, i sort of think you misunderstood me.

bella CAN be herself she just doesn't really HAVE a self. so i don't think that's an issue for her.

bella's really the embodiment of the faults, the inner weakness, in a lot of girls.

but most girls are much STRONGER than her, or so i hope.

it's funny how if you just think about the books in general, you think of all the things she's dealt with and survived, and you think, "god she must be a strong person" but then when you consider HOW she survived those things and how she acted along the way you realize....no, she's just SURROUNDED by strong people. i mean, she's really lucky.

charlie is the epitome of strong father figure - come on, he's the police chief.

edward, for all his faults that i point out all the time, is who he is, and he is INCREDIBLY strong and adamant about the things he believes in, and he is also incredibly selfless.

jacob is also incredibly strong. he and edward are a lot alike, in that way. their personalities are totally different, but they are a lot alike in their values and their beliefs and stuff.
