Of course my all time favorite character is Edward, who's isn't? So I'm just going to take him out of the equation...gotta give the others a chance.

So, now my favorite would definitely be Alice, she just has o much depth to her and you you learn more about her every time she shows up in the novel, I just never get tired of it! ^.^ My second favorite would be Emmett, he always leaves me smiling with everything he says and does, it's great!

My least favorite would probably be Billy, he just seems so wishy washy and yucky. One day he seems to like Bella okay then the next he doesn't...it's ANNOYING! Eh, I've just never warmed up to him.

Second least favorite would be Jessica...I've never really liked her but now after reading the first chapter of Midnight Sun I dislike her even more! Eww, so two-faced...just like Billy.

Jacob Blank Sucks

Post by I_wish_I_had_Edward »

Ok here it goes (This is my first post By the way). I know I will probably make some of you made here with this, but I absolutely can not stand Jacob Blank (and I know it's one of Stephenie's favorite charters). Here are my reasons why.

1. He is rude. He constantly make snide remarks about the Cullen's (e.I. Filthy Bloodsuckers). Yes, I know so does the Cullens from time to time but he does it WAY more even when he knows that it hurts Bella. For example: When he tells Bella in chapter 15 of Eclipse that Bella can have him the way he is bad behavior included. (if you really loved her you would except the fact that she doesn't want you to call her boyfriend rude names)

2. He not trustworthy. For example telling Charlie about the motorcycles. I'm sorry that just makes the guy a complete jerk in my book.

3. He way too arrogant. I know that Edward can be arrogant too but in a different way. Example when he forced Bella to kiss him in Chapter 15 because he thought Bella would like it even though she was pulling away. I'm sorry but if a guy ever did that to me I would kick him straight in the nads (except in this case I would break my knee doing it).

4. And lastly, he is too selfish. He keeps on harassing Bella (yes, I think its harassment). He does not care about her true feelings only his own. Hence, Chapter 26 of Eclipse when she tells him she's in love with him but she loves Edward more and chooses Edward he still never lets up.

*Seriously'.if Bella needs up with Jacob Black I will burn all my books. He represents everything I truly can not stand in a man or should I say a boy because that's what he acts (like a toddler throwing a fit in a toy store.)

Sorry I had to rant.

Actually, I went through and counted, and the Cullens call them "dogs" as many times as Jake calls them "bloodsuckers". Jake does it no more than the vamps do.
2. He not trustworthy. For example telling Charlie about the motorcycles. I'm sorry that just makes the guy a complete jerk in my book.
"Not trustworthy"? Jake tells Bella the truth every time. Edward is the one who isn't trustworthy, if anything. He has lied to Bella and kept things from her much more than Jake has. Jake is always a very honest guy-- If Bella directly asks him a question, he'll always answer with the truth. The only things he's ever kept from her are things he is forced to keep from her because of pack rules. Even though the motorcycle thing was a little low, it was due to a misunderstanding on his behalf AND Bella's. Jake should have just talked to her instead of doing the thing with the motorcycles, but he did it because he was trying to protect her. That doesn't make what he did right, but it makes what he did forgivable (IMO).
3. He way too arrogant. I know that Edward can be arrogant too but in a different way. She wasn't pulling away. SM said in an interview that she kissed him back just a little bit. She did it subconsciously since she was in love with him and didnt' realize what she was doing. That's why Jake was so happy afterwards; because she had kissed him back just a little bit. So the kiss wasn't entirely against her will.

4. And lastly, he is too selfish. He keeps on harassing Bella (yes, I think its harassment). He does not care about her true feelings only his own. Hence, Chapter 26 of Eclipse when she tells him she's in love with him but she loves Edward more and chooses Edward he still never lets up.

He does let up... after he leaves, Bella goes to his house to "break up" with him. And by that time, he's already prepared. He tells her he's been waiting for her. He knew he didn't win.

He didn't fight for her because he's "selfish". Let me quote SM on this one:

"Jacob doesn't have a tragic flaw. He has one goal and one hope. His goal is to save Bella's life. His hope is that he'll win her heart in the process. He fails at both. But that doesn't mean he regrets trying. If he could do it over again, he'd do the same thing. Jacob couldn't live with himself if he didn't give saving Bella his best effort—he knows it's going to hurt when he loses, but he knows it would hurt worse if he didn't try. Does he do everything right? Heck, no! But he's sixteen and he's making it up as he goes along. Those who are upset by some of his tactics should consider his youth and the fact that he is, after all, right. Bella is in love with him. (In the end, it's truly healthier for her to be aware of this as she goes forward with unalterable decisions.)"

He doesn't do what he does because he's "selfish". He does it because he loves Bella and wants to save her life. Winning her would just be a bonus to him.

The character I love? Now some people may be mad at me for this, but Jacob Black. I just really feel for him, I cried for him at one point. His case is just so hopeless, yet he's soooo nice and cares for Bella so much.
(no, I'm not against Edward)

The character I hate? Well, I always thought that it would be Jessica.. shes soooo annoying and she just seems to be faking it all the time. shes a flake, and angela is a much better friend for bella...

Well, I honor the fact that your a Jacob fan that's your opinion and I respect it. I guess it is harder for me to relate to him since like Stephenie said he is only 16 and will make mistakes. In reality tht's not the reason why I dislike him so much. The things he did to Bella felt like force to me. I've reread many times so I'm not going on a first read basis. I'm sorry I don't like the character his tacts are underhanded to me. I see nothing underhanded about Edward expect that time in the tent (but think about it how would YOU feel if you had to watch you boyfriend/girlfriend sleep next to someone all night long--that had to be the worse feeling in the world).
As far as Jacob not being trustworthy and Edward being not trustworthy, Edward was not trust worthy because he was trying to protect her. Jacob's tacts resorted to her father losing faith in her (and he KNEW that that you happen). He knew what the reaction would be from her father. There where lots of other ways he could have tried to save her life but he chose the easiest and not the most practical.

Also ask yourself this. If Bella told Jake that she was leaving Edward and was going to stay human but that she did not want Jacob, do you really think he would let her go. All of his actions point to no (execpt Chapter NEEDS). However, if she told edward the same thing I really believe that he would let her go (but still check in from time to time to make sure she was ok).

Again this is my opinion and is Wont change go dont even try to change it for me (although you may changen it).

Remember opinions are like a**holes everyones got one.

I can relate to your point of view -- Edward is a little "inconsiderate" sometimes, and in Twilight there is definitely some darkness to him (not so much in NM and EC any more). BUT: He is still my favorite character because the fact that he isn't quite perfect, but almost, is what I think makes him PERFECT. Does that make sense?

Which brings me to my least favorite character: Don't hate me, but it's Bella. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but she is just so over dramatic and annoying sometimes, the complete opposite of Edward, and it bothers me. Liek, why does she always have to get herself in danger to rescue somebody else( in T it's her mother she's sacrificing herself for, in EC it's Seth / Edward / the Cullens....) When will she get that her theatrical self-sacrificing sprees aren't helping anybody?!?!

I'm really looking forward to BD because I think she'll become more mature and reasonable -- and rational (which will probably turn her into my favorite character).

im completely agree with you.
Edward isnt perfect, which makes him MORE attractive. In books and movies you always kind of expect the main man to be charming good looking and absolutely perfect..but with Edward, he does make mistakes and he is a little immature and to me, that makes him MORE attractive..

Bella is over-dramatic. And i hope that in Breaking Dawn she begins to realize it and matures. But it might not happen because she is so wrapped up in Edward to see it...(IMO)

Well I agree with that. Jacob should have talked to her before doing the motorcycle thing. He wasn't being too incredibly bright right there. There are better ways he could have handled it for sure. Buuuuuut like SM said, he's just 16. He makes mistakes. So it's easy for me to forgive him.

Good point, but I don't think Bella would stay human and leave Edward unless she chose Jake. The only person in the entire world who even stands the slightest chance of breaking up Edward and Bella is Jacob-- he's the only one Edward would ever think of as "competition" (loose interpretation of the word, I know). So I don't think Bella would choose to stay human and leave Edward if she wasn't going to go with Jake. If she did by some miracle do that, I think Jake would be disappointed, but he'd be happy she was at least human still. I think it would go back to how it was in New Moon-- where they acted like friends, and he didn't push her much. I think he'd let her move at her own pace and do what she wanted to do.

Edward would let her go. Edward is very selfless when it comes to Bella-- usually.

1st: i like Bella of course... we have a lot in common. among those, I am a freakishly bad klutz, and it only got worse after my foot surgery and now i have horrible equilibrium. and i used to be a barista at a bookstore... i spilled/dropped/had accidents so much that my co-workers affectionately coined the term "Pullin' a Tiera" whenever something is spilled or burned in the microwave or exploded.... heh

2nd: guy-wise, Jacob and Edward come to mind... overall: i consider myself Switzerland... but as far as mystical powers... HECK YEAH i'd want to be a vampire and spend my days globetrotting w/ Edward and just enjoying him and everything. personality-wise, i think i'd match Jacob most - we have a lot in common. he's optimistic, for one. i like his sense of humor and that he lets Bella take risks, he trusts her and her him. i thought it was bad that he ratted her out about the bikes - because it was obvious they told each other everything and after that their relationship wasn't the same. but his intentions were good, though misconstrued, still - he set out to do that because he cared about her and didn't want to see anything bad happen.

and the thing with Jake, i know all too well what it's like to take care of a disabled family member. my sister is disabled requires a lot of care and attention, and my mother depends on me because she can't be there every minute when my sis needs her... so i feel obligated to take care of her and do so with the utmost love...

3rd... i pretty much love all the characters, even the Volturi! i don't feel strongly enough the hate anyone in the books... Stephanie did a great job in that respect- making these characters so awesome.
The Dark Knight = MASTERFUL.

Patiently waiting for ... Breaking Dawn and Twilight the Movie!

I hate Billy also. I think he is really nosy and rude, especially to Bella. I am re-reading the series right now, and am on the second half of Twilight. I want to shoot every second that Billy is there.
I looooooooooove Alice. She reminds me of some of my best friends, and me sometimes. She was so welcoming to Bella, and I love how they are BFF's. :D

I love Alice. She's crazy and wacky and bounces around all the time. sort of like me. :) And all of the Cullen's, including Rosalie. Since Eclipse, I understand where she is coming from. It also seems like she's not sure if she would choose to be a vampire again. I mean that if she had a choice between dying on the street, and being saved by Carlisle, she's not sure. I know she said she wish someone would have said no for her, but you also have to look at the love that her and Emmett have.
I like Jake. Most of the time. Sometimes he drives me crazy. I loved him in New Moon, at least until Edward came back. Jake is fine until he had to fight for Bella. Then he became rather arrogant, and he fights dirty, hurting both Edward and Bella. I do like him. Just when Edward's not around. Sort of like Bella does.
