Emmett is very smart. Just like all of the Cullens. Even Mrs. Cope was thinking about all of them having perfect 4.0s. Emmett is the joker, the comic relief; but that doesn't make him unintelligent. He's like Fred and George in the Harry Potter series. Those two were really smart and talented but they were totally the "class clowns." I think Emmett is kind of like that. He likes to have fun, but he knows his stuff. He's been through college a couple times too.

But still, you're right, SM does tell us a lot about Emmett, we just have to gather all the random details she tells us about him to get a full character profile :D
LOL! Actually, this list is in the thread a few times. I pull it forward to the current page whenever someone says we know very little about Emmett.

Emmett is a smart guy. Here's what I think (and I wrote a fanfic about this topic): Most likely, Emmett did not finish school as a human. It was common at that time and place for kids (especially boys) to quit school to help on the family farm full time or some other job to earn money since it was the Depression. So I think his first high school experience was when he was a vampire and they all needed to enroll in school so they could blend in. Since vampires have perfect recall and can learn much more quickly than a human, he wouldn't have had any problems the first time through high school. He would only need to see it or hear it once in order to know it and be able to pass a test perfectly.

I do agree that his biggest problem would be with boredom, sitting through the classes, etc. I agree with Esme Echo, it says a lot about his dedication and self-control to play the part of a high school student.

i agree, emmett does kind of remind me of fred and george.

they make the atmosphere more relax and stuff (of course, technically there's jasper to do that too but you get what i'm saying right?)[/b]
"Would you please stop trying to take you clothes off?"Edward
"Why, do you want to do that?", asked Bella, CONFUSED

oh, Bella. You're too innocent to be seductive.
which is why this quote gets me every time

Emmet, in my poinion, looks like the most humane of all. He is easy going, big brotherly, and fun to have around. And he definitely stands out even among those others like Edward or Jasper.

Also, I like the "SAY WHATEVER I WAS THINKING" attitude. Common, everyone have to agree that guessing what people are REALLY thinking can be EXTREMELY irritating!! (which makes me a little--okay, ALOT--that he can read minds. )Besides, it takes some nerve to say whatever you are thinking.

oh, definitly! Emmet has a lot of self-confidence. He's able to speak his mind with no fear. Though i think the fact that he can break you in half with two fingers if you have a problem with him gives him an extra confidence boost.

Emmett reminds me of my four brothers. If there's a problem, solve it--don't talk it to death! Don't beat around the bush, and make sure to have some fun while you're at it!

Exactly! he's a Can-Do kind of person! Nothing seems 'too much' to him, ya know?

Yeah, he is. I think he's very different as a vampire than he was as a human - I think he's better behaved.

From what we know about him, he liked the pleasures in life, but when he was changed (although he did have problems, admittedly) he denied a vampire's biggest pleasure - human blood.

That says a lot about Emmett to me.

<strike>Do we know how old Emmett was when he turned, and how old he is now? I'm trying to figure out ages for everyone, but I'm finding it hard to determine anyone's specific ages other than Edwards. Am I missing something, or is SM just leaving them vague on purpose? :)</strike>

Found it. Just to make sure I'm right, Emmett was born in 1915. He was turned in 1935, when he was 20. So, he looks 20, but is in fact 72.

That makes sense, right? :)

at first i always thought Emmett to be equivalent to the stereotypical jock, football, joker, popular (he's even got the hot girlfriend/wife) so i'm impressed that SM was able to turn that image around and make him appear more like the big brother some people never had.
