I love Quil in the start of New Moon. He was so cute when he was crushing on Bella. It wasn't as funny when Bella and Jake were joking at his expense though. That was kind of immature.

Quil and Kim are very cute. I love that - but won't she notice that he stays the same age as everyone else ages?

I don't think Quil's filler at all. He's served his purposes:
1. First off, when Embry had become a werewolf, if it wasn't for Jake, he would have been alone, but he had Quil. It would have changed things.

2. Comic relief!

3. He also explained a little bit more about imprinting...how it's not always romantic at first.

either way though does anyone else find that odd? I mean I can understand it (afterall Edward's waaaaaaay older than Bella and it's all good there) in the age sense but how strange is that? How can you be in love with a 3 year old?!?! I love Quil but come on how does that work? He'll be waiting a long time for her :S

Yes. that's a very long time, poor Quil. But when a werewolf imprints, it's not always romantic love. Like Jake said, they love the girl like a brother, serve as a protector or the relationship is just simply platonic, just as long as they get to be around her. And then when she grows up, they could be in love just like Sam and Emily.

Quil always kind of reminded me of Emmett... the pair of them are really similar, in my opinion, especially the way they both tease Bella. Quil is the most laid back of the wolves, and Emmett seems to be the same for the vamps, not to mention their physical similarites-they are both described as very muscled.

Both are my favourites for their 'sides' , aside from the main characters (Bella, Edward and Jacob). Quil always seems to see the light side of every situation

I also think that's his role, he stops the wolves from taking things too seriously.

i love quil. even though we don't see much of his character, i can just see him being the guy to hang out with. you know, like the funny one...

I actually burst out laughing when Jake revealed who Quil imprinted on. I laughed so loud I had to press my pillow into my mouth to keep me from waking everyone. No kidding.

Quil sounds like the type of person who I would hang out with. He sems so, so carefree, yet very loyal. The books doesn't revolve around Quil much, so I'm not as attached to him as I am with other characters.

But his sincerity to his best friend, Jake, when Jake ran away is just so good! It notched up my admiration for his character!

I have a lot of respect for Jake's "wingmen," Quil and Embry. It says a lot for them that their friendship stayed so solid after the change. Everybody has nasty thoughts about their friends occasionally that would merit avoiding each other as completely as possible, but somehow, they stayed almost inseparable.

And I agree,

Quil always kind of reminded me of Emmett...the pair of them are really similar, in my opinion, especially the way they both tease Bella.

Their roles I suppose are to lighten up the tense situations that Edward and Jake create in their minds, or rather, they are a reality check in the middle of the world coming crashing down.

I noticed that Seth Clearwater didn't seem as "turned off" by the vampires. He was even chill enough to touch his nose to Edward's hand (which probably left a lingering scent). I wonder if Quil is that unaffected by the vamps as well. After all, Seth and Quil share the feeling that being a werewolf is the coolest thing that has ever happened to them.

Personally, I think that Quill is an important character.

1. His character basically showed everyone what imprinting really was. He showed that you can imprint on someone a lot younger than you and that the relationship doesn't always have to start out romantic. Without out his imprinting 'situation' I don't think that we would have really known the extent of imprinting and how few boundaries that there are to it.

2. When Bella saw him walking all alone and drove him home, he basically confirmed that something serious was happening with Jake. He showed that it wasn't just Bella that Jake was ignoring. Quill and Jake had been friends practically all of their lives and as soon as Jake became a werewolf, it's like they never knew each other. It showed the full extent of the hold that Sam has over the others.

3. Probably not as important as the other two, but Quill is a pretty funny character.

I hope that Quill's role increases and that we see more of him soon.
