I don't think there should be a leader of the Volturi.
They are like the 3 branches of government.
And they really use the checks and balances thing. xD
Aro. He is good, but a little bad.
He dismissed Edward, Alice, and Bella as if being nice to them would make them join the Volturi. He envisioned them being by his side in the Volturi. And to become even more powerful than the Cullens.

No doubt about it Aro is interesting. The fact that he still has that much enthusiaam after 3000 years is amazing. I think it was the description of Caius saying that it looked like he had heard too much of Aro's enthusiasm from his millenia around him. I don't really see the Volturi as being "bad guys" more like businessmen or a dynasty. Some of the things they do may come across as horrible but in the end it really wasn't "personal" I guess you could say. And I by no means think that Aro is the sole leader it is definitely shared between him, Marcus, and Caius it's just that Aro is the most enthusiastic about everything and probably just plays spokesman all the time.
Here, there, and everywhere...that's where you'll find me.

Alright. So I am NOT a vampire person. I don't like them. There are 4 vampires that I really, really like-- Rosalie, Carlisle, Emmett, and Aro (kind of the Volturi in general, but especially Aro).

I feel like there is probably a darker side to Aro. Something about him sort of gives me chills. He puts on the nice face, but he's part of the Volturi-- things can't be fun and games with him all the time. But he's so... fascinating. In New Moon, he was so optimistic. So curious. He seemed much kinder than the other Volturi members. And he was so.... polite. I immediately liked him (even though I suspect there is probably a bit more to him under the surface). He kind of reminded me of a little boy in an older man's body. His enthusiasm seemed almost childlike, in a way. And everything seemed for fascinate him, sort of how it would a child. Lol :).

I hope he's in BD... the Volturi are awesome!

I'm absolutely intrigued by all the Volturi, but Aro actually is the scariest of them all to me. Caius may have been openly nasty, but the kind of gleeful sadism Aro was throwing around? Like when you can hear him welcoming the "visitors" (a.k.a. dinner) to the castle? That just gave me the heebie jeebies. Some of the best villains I find are the ones that can come off friendly, funny or entertaining, but turn out to be the biggest, most two-faced and vicious monsters. I'd bet when Aro actually drops the friendly exterior and lets his nasty side show its going to be absolutely sinister.

I agree-- he's like a kid! :) Haha. Though I'll bet Caius and Marcus get irritated with the enthusiasm, after 3,000 years. lol.

And, he does seem like the "spokesperson" of the Volturi, though by no means the sole leader. He does seem the one who people would listen to more, simply because of the politeness and kindness, despite his being a vampire.

Right now, I'm wondering will Edward and the rest of the Cullen's and Hale's have onion skin in the next 10000000000000 something years?

Because Edward with onion skin, would not be a crowd pleaser.
Haha! That is so true, so true. I really don't get the skin and the eyes either, but for some reason, I liked Aro. Don't get me wrong, he is extremely creepy, but the whole thing with him clapping his hands together and getting all excited was really cool, I thought. I liked him. His enthusiasm was contagious, even though he isn't even...well...even if he's a fictional character. You can't make me say they're not real! You Can't! *shifty eyes* Wow...I think it's bedtime for me...
I liked Aro too. He was admittedly kind of creepy, but at least he wasn't all grouchy and stuff like Marcus and Caius were. I thought it was cool how he didn't get judgemental about Bella. At least, not as badly as he could have.

I did like Aro, his enthusiasm was just so unexpected I loved it. But, like Megan said, there is something darker about him. I feel like he is the kind that always seem oblivious and jolly, but all the while is carefully calculating everything. 8)

That's a great way of putting it! He seems like a bit of a Machiavelli to me.

But doesn't all of the enthusiasm/mystery make him super sexy?
Actually, don't answer that - he's mine.
I have no doubt that Marcus and Caius are just as an important part of the Volturi, but my Aro is the one that is the most...visible. As we can see, he does most of the interacting (but now I'm quoting nothingdoing :P)
As we know, he also keeps the histories for the Volturi. kind of makes me wonder what the other two do. (not that we should be discussing that in this thread :/)
