I didn't answer.
"I thought once this whole Forks thing was finished, you would get over it."
"Forks was never the problem, Rosalie". I said, trying to be patient. What she said about Carlisle and Esme had struck a chord.
I was really confused about the bolded sentences. What is that supposed to mean?
Stephenie says in one of the Personal Correspondences on the Lexicon that Edward is Carlisle and Esme's favourite child, so to speak, because he has been with them the longest.

That said, Esme has never been one of my favourite characters. I don't dislike her or anything, but she's never made too much of an impression on me - maybe because she's never really central to what's going on. Personally, I hope she gets a bigger role in BD, because I want to see more of her. She seems like she'd be a rather interesting character, if she got more "screen time", for lack of a better word.

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/ ... kford2.jpg thats a pic i found on google after searching 'silent movie era' it fits esme well. i always imagined her with soft mommy-like features the person in the pic has shorter hair but i imagined snow white hair only browner. i dunno if this is the kinds of posts most people are doing but i figured its the place to discuss all things esme so i want people to see this photo.

Yep! That's the look I ascribe to Esme, too! That's why I chose Lee Miller for my avatar. They have the same pensive, but sweet expression. No hardness in their faces at all. (Lee Miller had quite a bit of experience in WWII as a photographer, so she had plenty to be pensive about.)

personally, i really love Esme...i love everything about her...her compassion...and how she really accepts Bella...

another thing though...i don't really think Edward is their "favourite" child, its just that they know him a lot better than the rest of their "children"

From Rosalie's perspective, Edward is Esme's favorite. Here's what Stephenie wrote about Rosalie calling Edward and telling him Bella was dead:
Stephenie Meyer wrote:"Don't you care how much you've hurt Esme, if no one else? She loves you more than the rest of us, and you know that. Come home."
Of course, "sibling" perspectives aren't always correct, but the attitude of Carlisle and Esme throughout the books indicates to me that he is ... more beloved ... than the others. Perhaps it's because he needs parents more than the others. The others all have mates to turn to in times of happiness or stress.

i guess you're right...like they say...Edward had been alone for almost a century before he met Bella so i suppose they worry about him a lot more than the others...especially since he's been around the longest and also alone the longest...

Stephenie says in Personal Correspondance #7:

Q. Does Esme have a favorite son or daughter? (What about Carlisle?)

A: Esme and Carlisle love all their "children" in different ways, but they both have a soft spot for Edward because he was with them first, and he's such a deeply good person. The others are good, too, but Edward is special. And I'm not just saying that because I'm in love with him.

:D i would love to know that, too! i mean, hes not someone you'd excactly forget, though.....
