I felt sorry for Riley =/ He probably didn't choose to become a vampire, and Victoria did screw his mind over horribly in the end.

I agree, poor Riley never had a chance, but I think it was the same as with Bree; He didn't really know what was happening to him, he went to the first person who could explain.

I have no idea why I have more sympathy for Riley, than for Bree... :?

I was wondering why I couldn't see a Bree topic...

Neither of them knew anything, and probably stuck with Victoria because it was the only thing that they could do. That, and the fact that Bella's scent was driving them insane.

I like Bree better, though, because she agreed to stop fighting. She was able to control herself more than Riley; I was hoping that she would join the Cullens .__. She might have stayed with them, gave their lifestyle a chance because she was so confused. But then Jane put a stop to it D:

Poor Riley, getting seduced by Victoria @_@ Sometimes it's better to give up, but I admire his determination in continuing no matter what.

I have no idea why but I loved Riley. I mean, I felt sorry that he believed that Victoria loved him and I was really hoping he didn't die. Despite how he fed on humans and was intent on killing Bella, he was loyal to who he though loved him and I'm sure he thought he loved Victoria. Ugh! I wish he would have lived!

this could be a classic scenario of the Stockholm syndrome. i mean, like it's been said, i'm sure he wasn't like, "oh lookie, my whole life as i know it is over...WHAT FUN!" no. but then, your mind goes loopy and you start caring and defending your attacker, a role filled by Victoria. and then she slowly, but surely brain washes you into thinking you're in love with her and that she is in love with you! poor kid. i can only imagine what must have been going through his head when Edward was trying to talk him out of it. he must have been so scared and i'll bet a rational part of his mind was trying to break free. but i'm sure it was easier for him to stay with Victoria because that would mean that his whole world wouldn't have to change AGAIN. the mind does funny things to protect itself.

Riley just seemed more like a zombie than a vampire. He scared me, really bad, but I guess I did feel just a little bit sorry for him.
