laurent

Post by klutzs rule!! »

I thought it was interesting that in the first one, he is the "adult" in the coven, keeping out of the conflict and being the responsile one. He found the idea of "vegetarianism" interesting, and he left. At the time, we think, okay, this guy knows more than he's letting on, and he is being responsible, not getting involved.

Then, in New moon, you wonder, what in the world?? Why did he do that?

I have been pondering this, and right now, I really do not have any major new ideas.

I suppose the only reason why he did it is because he couldn't handle being a vegetarian, he barely knows Bella, and he's known Victoria for who knows how long. Although he did make a promise to the Cullens, they left, leaving Bella behind and since Victorias number one goal is to kill Bella, he probably figured "Heck why not?".

Hmmm.
I Kindof Liked Laurent in the first book.
I was shocked-and mad- that he wanted to kill her.

anywhoo...
I kindof imagined him as looking sortof like William Beckett For some reason.
lol. :D

well i think that laurent can be a totally awesome person but then agian and totally mean one too lol
like in twilight he seemed like he was a good guy even tho he was with hames and victoria, but it does sort of say hes a smoothtalker and i think he can make friends easily and he has hope ..i guess i mean he went to carlisle who told him bout the denali clan and how there vegetarians and it seemed to me like he was hoping for somthing like this, he was tired of the traditional way of a vampire lol and he seems like the type of person who doesnt want to get into fights so he would be either a person who has seen to much war because he was born in 1755 and well im guessin he was born in france...because of the name and his physical description, so he just doesnt feel like fighting any more...then in new moon he doesnt do much but from what he does do its seems like he is tempted very easily and is determined to satisfy his temptation, u noe like when he went to kill bella because victoria asked for a favor and he wanted blood. it also seems like he takes his friendships very seriousy as in hes seems pretty loyal. but he noes when to draw the line..sort of :P
last but not least. i think hes a total romantique, i dont noe what sort of full evidence there is but i just have that feeling i guess well one he french..i think and well one of the big stereotypes are that french people are the romantics..rite? and also in eclipse it shows that he does find a mate um ...i think it was tanya or irina?? anyway she seemed pretty loyal to him so he must have treated her right!
lol sory it was so long i take laurent very seriously lol him and the cullens are my fav character in the whole book in some way hes right up there with edward and carlisle and jasper :P"
That's what a girl on my group (my homepage) said about Laurent, I though that it was pretty good insight into a character that is soo barely mentioned and explained.

I was actually sad to see Laurent go.
I didn't think it was neccesary for him to die. I know it would have been bad if he had killed Bella (of course), but I still couldm't help feeling a little sad when he was killed. He had a sort of potiental, if you know what I mean?
He seemed pretty nice in Twilight.

I was a bit shocked and sad to see Laurent gone. It wouldn't have made sense if he went "vegetarian" But I thought he would've atleast left Bella alone and have nothing to do with Victoria *shrugs*

Laurent?

Post by Esme echo »

Laurent's character impresses me as the quintessential light-weight: he did whatever caused him the least amount of trouble for his greatest personal gain.

He joined James' coven because James was "lethal," a guaranteed safe harbor in a violent vampire world. He abandoned James as soon as it became obvious the Cullens would fight him to the death--and might possibly win--or at least inflict some heavy damage!

He was attracted to the "civilized" lifestyle of the Cullens and the clan in Denali (clean clothes, regular showers, etc.), but abandoned their vegetarian philosophy as soon as adhering to it became personally uncomfortable.

Bella's scent was attractive to vampires in general (Edward's reaction was unusual), and Laurent was thirsty when he came across Bella in the meadow. Notice that he didn't decide to attack her until he was relatively certain he was safe from reprisal.

I'm a little surprised Laurent was running around doing errands for Victoria, though; he didn't seem the type to extend himself unless he had something definite to gain by it. (Where did they meet up, anyway, if Laurent was up in Alaska and Victoria was buzzing around the south, getting ideas about vampire wars?) Nevertheless, I'm not surprised he decided to take advantage of an appealing-smelling human out in the middle of nowhere when he was thirsty. That totally fits his personal style.

As soon as Laurent stepped into the meadow I shouted to myself, "Hide, Bella! Run away! Don't let him see you!" I was never so relieved as when the werewolves showed up!

Taking into account the Quileute legends in Eclipse, the werewolves are well aware of the necessity of burning vampires to ash--Billy had vampire ash in a pouch around his neck! Hey, if they can carry their clothes with them, I see no difficulty with a few matches in their pockets. For that matter, they may have been skilled "matchless" fire makers!

I have no doubt Laurent is gone for good. Good riddance! What a wuss.
