Or he was just hungry? And his he didn't have so much of a conscience to not kill? (Vampires can't starve). But yeah I get it. The frog and the scorpion- its just his nature, he's a vampire.

It did sound like he was trying to justify it to himself some-what when he was talking to Bella, though. So maybe the Denali coven had a little effect on him. He may have eventually learned and regained some humanity. But we'll never know.

Yes, I wouldn't peg laurent as evil...He didn't exactly wish ill things for Bella..I felt he was actually indifferent about her, and he just happened upon her when he was quite thirsty...

Thankfully the pack was there! :D

I think Laurent talked to Bella just long enough to make sure she really was alone--that a coven of angry vampires would not hunt him down if he killed her.
