Accents/voices

Post by epona »

ok this is probably a bit mad but i was really surprised when i heard (and saw) Stephenie speak -
it made her seem alot more 'real' but actually hearing her voice really surprised me. I knew she was american but i was sort of fascinated by her accent. she is bella's voice after all. and then more recently i heard Pel's voice recorded somewhere and it is really amazing to hear someone when all you usually know of that person is letters on a page.

perhaps we should set up little recordings of readings of twilight/newmoon/eclipse in our accents/voices. to put a voice to the penname? or am i just being extremely odd?

ya that's really weird to actually hear the voices of the people you read posts of on the internet because you just read them and you hear the sound of you own voice(well i dunno that''s how i hear it)so ya it's really weird.

well i can't do the voice recording thing because i'm dumb but i'd love to hearhow everyone else talks...it'd be interesting.

actually yeah it does. I tend to assume everyone is flat and accentless like how i talk (no slur no drawl no lilt just words)
but when i went to louisiana a few weeks ago i heard all these amazing southern accents and when i talked to the other kids at the convention they stared at me and my friends like WE were the ones talking like characters from Gone With the Wind.......people on here would be so different because i know there's folk from other countries and such.............i want to hear how you sound!

yeah, I have an east coast accent, (not as bad as my brother though, his is Jersey) and when I visit my cousins in the midweast they always complain about it. (ex: soda vs. pop)

well here soda is coke regardless of flavor or brand.....pop is very hick-like, soda-pop is awkward sounding and soda is the clear flavorless carbonated water.

you say "Got any coke?" they answer "yeah Dr. Pepper and Sprite which do you want?'..(everyone drinks Dr. Pepper around here, it's the law I personally prefer Jazz but we still take fieldtrips to the Dr. Pepper muesum and hear about ho central texas invention carbonated drinks and blah blah blah.)

I've always been really interested in that, people's accents and such.

Things I've noticed.
Soda/Pop I live in the midwest, but my parents grew up on the east coast, so i say soda. Everyone else says pop.

Theater. Thee-ATer by some, theater by me.

Missouri. Some people, like politicians and those who live in the boot hill say something like "Missoura"

Personally I say Misery, but that's a whole different issue.
Some of us long for the bright day
When sunlight rains down.

Some of us wish for the black night
With its shining, starry crown.

But me, I dream of Twilight
When faint stars glitter in a purple sky,
And the sun's last rays dance in flame.
When dusk casts its shadows on a glowing world,
Only one word can give this all a name:
Twilight.

Give me the dusk.
Give me the stars,
The dying sun.

Give me immortal Twilight.

Accents have always interested me. I love listening to other people speak just to hear their accents.

I've lost my Spanish accent when I speak English something I'm both happy and sad about.

But my favorite accents have to be Scottish and Irish. Even if I sometimes understand nothing, I love to listen to them.

My accent changes with the extremities of my mood. I have my own way of speaking, it's really strange. Also, it always absorbs the accent of the people Im with and take it into my own. Like, if I'm with British people, I'll start talking like a Brit.

I have a pretty good Minnesotan accent during the summer- I go up north where it's worse. Boat and Minnesota are hilarious, apparently.

Also- I never say pop. I always say soda, and get harassed about it all the time, since I'm midwestern.

I love it!

I live in California, but I'm not sure if the accents differ from north and south? Anyway, I'm southern Californian, Idon't know how I sound to other people, because I've never been around them!
