SM - Meyer Twilight Universe pronuciation key

Post by bbbailey »

Hi, i just had a quick question...it might be stupid, but this thread doesnt have to stick around long...how is Meyer said? is it May-er or My-er? Ive never actually heard it said out loud...plus my friend and I were debating over it.

I have no idea how to pronounce Carlisle (ca-rile? seriously, no idea.), but Quileute is pronounced like QUIL - uh - ute (rhymes with flute). What other names did you want to know how to pronounce? Stuff like Quileute is from Native American languages, and the only reason I know how to pronounce them is because I grew up in Washington - I'm sure there are plenty of people from the United States who pronouce it wrong :p

I listened to the audiobooks (far too often now... :wink: ) and Carlisle is pronounced Car-lail there if that helps... My sister and me were discussing this too, before.

Carlisle = CAR - lyle
Quileute = QUIL - yute (I asked the Quileute woman working in the Quileute Welcome Center)
Esme = EZ - may/mee (right in the middle of the two sounds)
Meyer = MY - er
