Which quote(s) do you "hate"?

Post by Kissa »

OK, I just started to read New Moon again, and I realized... We have all these threads talking about your favorite quote in Twilight and New Moon... But which quote do you hate the most?
(I couldn't find one already discussing this. Just shut me up if there is one! )

Not in the sense of "this quote is stupid", cus IMO there's nothing stupid in either of the books, but in sense of they give you a bad feeling, they're too sad, etc..?

There are so many, I can't really choose.... And I'm purposefully avoiding the ones in chapter 3 of New Moon... But a couple of them are...
His face was smooth, unreadable, but there was something wrong with his eyes - something he was trying very hard to hide. I felt a spasm of unease in my stomach.
(New Moon, pg. 41)
and
I collapsed back onto my pillow, gasping, my head spinning. Something tugged at my memory, elusive, on the edges.
(New Moon, pg 51)
and
I was halfway asleep, maybe more, when I realized what his kiss had reminded me of: last spring, when he'd had to leave me to throw James off my trail, Edward had kissed me goodbye, not knowing when - or if - we would see each other again. This kiss had the same almost painful edge for some reason I couldn't imagine. I shuddered into unconsciousness, as if I were already having a nightmare.
(New Moon, pg 52)
(and of course - italics is my doing..)

These three put together.. They give me goose bumps...! :? They're so... ominous, I guess... They make my stomach hurt...

So, which one's do you "hate"?

I don't have New Moon on me right now, but I'd have to say that my least favorite quote is the one where Bella is considering Jacob, right before Edward calls.

I'm biased, yes, but I don't like it.

And yes'"all those quotes you posted, I don't like them either. :[

I don't hate this quotes per se but they defaintely made me want to cry or gav me a bad feeling of things to come.

Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but it pass it does. Even for me.

Then there would come a point in my dream- and I could feel it coming now but I could never seem to wake myself up before it hit- when I couldn't remember what it was that I was searching for.
THe last line of that quote is: there would never be anythign for me...nothing but nothing. That was usually when teh screaming sarted.

THose are just so heartbreaking :(

There's no line I hate, exactly, but I always crack up in th chapter 'Vote' in NM, after Edward tells them his avoid-the-Volturi plan, "Emmett laughed, and reached across the table toward his brother, extanding a fist. 'Excellent plan, my brother,"... Edward stretched out his arm to smack Emmett's fist with his own." Something tells me people did not do that in the earlier half of the 20th century, and it's hilarious (for me, at least) to see them do something that every boy in my school does in the middle of the hallway... (not that I don't laugh at them secretly, but...)

I don't liek the part at the end of New Moon, where Bella is telling Edward about hearing the voices, and he goes like "You were-- risking your life-- to hear---" something like that. It was just SO sad, it made me cry for like 10 minutes!  anyone else think this quote was particulary sad?

About Bella hearing the voices...

Post by Tainted_Rose07 »

That was very sad! When she actually jumped I was like "omg, what?!" I can understand what she meant though or why she was doing it. I think the fact that I could relate to her pain from past experiences is what really made her hollowness real for me. I mean he was such a huge part of her life and though he is one of the "undead" he was the one that taught her the most how to live. I mean if I was in her situation I would have probably done anything to hear his voice. She was doing something insane in order to stay sane. It really tore me up. I hope that when and if I become a writer that I can move people with the character's emotions as stephanie has done.

I believe that Twilight has a lot of quotes or lines that I do not like. That whole "And so the lion fell in love with the lamb" has gotten REALLY tiring. There are many others... I recall one when Bella was at the hotel with Jasper and Alice... she was on the phone with Edward. Then she said something like, "'Come get it then.' I challenged him." Agh. I don't know why that gets on my nerves... it just does.

Even though quotes like this wasn't my intention when I started this thread, I know exactly what you mean! I almost think it's embarrassing... I don't know, maybe I think it's too.. uhm... cheesy? I really don't know. I just don't like that line either..!

:P I'M SORRY! I didn't know what you were actually looking for... but hey, at least now I found someone else that has that weird vibe about it.

yeah, that quote gets on my nerves too. kind of flirty you know, like she's bossing him around when he's risking his "life" for her. this sounds really bad, I know, but that's the way it feels like to me. I still wub you Bella, and Stephenie! :P
