Can vampires have kids?

Post by mrs. cullen »

I was wondering if vampires could have kids? Like would the baby be born a vampire and stay an infant forever? Or would the baby have to be bitten to be a vampire? If there was already a thread posted on this please let me know.

What do you think?

Female vampires don't ovulate and male vampires don't have any sperm. So no little baby vampires. The only way to create a vampire is to change a human.

This is on the first page of the Personal Correspondence section:

And since were talking physiology Ive had tons of people ask if vampires can have babies. The answer is no. When someone becomes a vampire, its as if they are frozen exactly as they are in that moment. His or her (and well go with her because its more central to this discussion) body no longer experiences change. Hair does not grow, nor do fingernails (if you cut your hair, youre stuck. Thats why Alices hair is so short "it was growing back from being shaved in the asylum). This applies to all changes" so a woman would no longer have any kind of ovulation cycle. If she were already pregnant when she was bitten, both she and the fetus would be frozen in that state. Which would really suck "pregnant for eternity? I'm shuddering at the thought.

I am pinning this because this is the third most frequently asked question we get, and I know poor Taxi is getting tired of explaining, she always seems to answer every thread where this comes up.

In case you are wondering the other two they are:

1) If Bella has her persiod can Edward tell. The answer is yes but he is too much of a gentleman to mention it, plus it's deadblood. It would be like wanting to eat a stale yogurt.

2) Why don't the Volturi powers and Edward's powers work on Bella but Jasper's and Alice's do? Bella has a closed mind. Jasper's power effects the physical body. And Alice sees the environment around her, she does not need to see into Bella's mind to see her future.

I'm also going to lock this discussion because I just know if it goes over a page people aren;t going to read and Taxi will be answering again.
