Bella strikes me as the kind of person who is more with there work than hanging out at the lockers with everyone else. i guess you could call her a wall flower! :)

I ditto the bugged feeling. I mean, I don't know what I'd do without one of my friends...and it's not like I'm some big popular person, either...but at least I have a few good friends.
So...when it comes to Bella...I don't think she really had a lot of friends. I can picture Bella eating lunch alone, not as a loser or anything, but as a shy kid who can't seem to find a niche. I can see her as the kid who didn't chat loudly with her friends when the teacher let you talk when everyone had their test turned it.
She's not pathetic or a nerd of a loser at all.
She's Bella, and didn't change herself to get friends anyways.

I did wonder about that, too, but I just picture whatever friends she had in Phoenix being similar to the friends I have at school: you know them at school, and you eat lunch together, but you don't really have a friendship with them outside of school. I understand her never bothering to contact them, or them her. Renee took the place of "best friend" in her life.

And the thing about Bella being dared to eat dirt - I'd LOVE to read that!

I think Bella's friends were more of the type that you talk with in class or sit with at lunch, but don't hang-out with outside of school.
So slightly more than aquaintances, definitely friendly, but not really friends.

Awweee, the part that you said about Bella eating lunch alone just made me really sad. I just pictured her sitting a table alone and just eating. Okay, that's really sad to me.

That I can't agree more with.
seriously. How in the world does someone as nice as Bella not have any friends if she didnt somehow give off nonhuman vibes or something? I mean, really, can you think of one person at your school who doesnt have any friends? I cant. . .this is sad! I agree with bella being the kid who has a few friends, no one close, but is not a loser. She didnt have a lot of money, but that doesnt make such a big difference, does it? That's my question/ what im wondering-- what would her life have been like if she had money and friends back in Phionex? Would she even have come to forks? I mean, she's having tons of anxiety over leaving behind Jess and Angela, would she have even left if she had good friends in Phionex?
If you ever welcomed me to the lexicon, you saw that my last name is swan. but, my mom is getting married, and soon, that will not be true. Im using my new last name from christmas on. :[[[ Goodbye, coolest last name ever.

Yeah, this bugged me for a while. But, she mentions in the books how she doesn't really relate to people well, and I think she had maybe at the most aquaintances...but...I don't know if it is possible to live so...lonely. She had to have gone places with people on the weekends and such, or...what was her life's purpose for? Just being by herself, or with her mom?

Maybe she did have friends, but just not good enough ones to care too much about.

I would really love to know a little more about Bella, her past. What she did before she was with Edward, or thinking about edward or what he was, every moment of the day. Her life is way too complicated for friends, mortal friends anyway, now, but yeah, I can't imagine her not being friends. It's not like people should have a reason to hate her.

Maybe Stephenie just found it incredibly unimportant to the stories, having it just take up room. I dunno.

But I agree with you in that she's definitely not meant to be a human xD

I just simply thought most of her references to her past were cut out in the editing process. I mean, if there's a memory out in the middle of a nowhere, it can slow down the story. The first chapter of Twilight might've been good, but at that point, readers are too excited to see Edward show up than to read Bella's memories. SM mentions how long the editing process for Twilight took, and there were parts that were taken out that she didn't put on her website. There's a storyline that SM sticks to, and I'm not and editor, but I know how annoying it is in fanfiction when people insert phrases that have nothing to do with the storyline itself.

Maybe she was a bit of a loner and had no friends.
It could happen.
