Bella's Old Friends
This is just a thing that's always bugged me:
Since Bella has lived in Phoenix for most of her life, she HAS to have friends there, correct? She NEVER mentions any of them in both books and it just bothers me. Don't they contact her? Call? E-mail? I may be making this a bigger deal then needed but it just bugs me to no end.

i think she was kind of a loner. it sounded like her mom was more of her friend then anyone. Im sure she had a few friends but not anyone she would miss terribly enough to contact. I bet she was usually just in her own little world that probably why Stepenie says she has a very private mind...i bet she was quiet and shy and her peers thought she was weird probably.

Well I'm in no way a Bella, but in elementary school I was pretty much a loner, I only had two close friends and that was it. She had to have SOMEONE I mean even just ONE person, besides her mother. No one can be THAT "private" to have no social contact, c'mon.

I think one of things that makes Bella unique is that other humans don't "get" her. So while I believe she had some friends in AZ, I don't think they were all that close. Bella reveals that her mom is her best friend, but we also know that Bella took care of her mom at least emotionally. So I'm guessing that Bella doesn't really relate to other teens (that's shown in Forks too).
The fact that she falls for Edward says something too. Yeah, in some ways he's still seventeen but not really. Bella relates to older people (except for Jacob, of course), but she really doesn't really relate all that well to humans in general. Even her relationship with her mother isn't exactly pure friendship--Bella's taking care of her just like she takes care of Charlie. Edward is the only person in her life that she really has any sort of equal, give and take, relationship with.
So, yeah, she doesn't communicate with friends back in AZ, but I don't find that all too disturbing. If she was to move away from Forks she probably wouldn't keep in contact with Jessica or Angela even though they are her only real friends outside of the Cullens.
In my opinion, Bella's just not meant to be human...

"Frankly, My Dear, I Don't Give a Damn."
yea i think we have to understand that Bella is not a normal one-of-us...
i mean EDWARD fell in love with her and all powerful volturi cannot harm her (with mental powers)
taking all these things about Bella into consideration....its not that big of a stretch to say that she wasn't really close to anyone in school.[/i]
