I think so too...anyway...Bella jsut needs to look young and helpless in a way. Edward's her protector and that has to be visible to EVERYBODY...I think...

"Truly my dear, I don't give a damn" hahahaha

And yeah, this is all concerning what is politically correct and that it doesn't "look wrong". But yeah we are talking about a VAMPIRE for crying out loud so he's not really bound by these "Human Laws". And neither would she. Thats really only in humans-human relationships. And i mean if everyone thinks its so wrong where they live just move somewhere else.

No problem.

getting older every day

Post by tricia »

for me, i felt Bella's pain on her birthday. I am 35.. i know a bit old for this, but how can you not just love the cullens? Please don't think i have issues with 35 (even though Bella was HORRIFIED by 30) I'm okay with my age.

The thought of Bella ageing and not Edward is horrifying. I don't personally think that she should make it to 19. She needs to be changed in her 18th year. Before college... But i do love the idea of after marriage.

of course... your only as old as you feel.. but when your immortal you don't want to look older than your soul mate for eternity

that was mainly why bella was freaking out over her birthday! it really made vivid time passing between Edward and herself! I would have flipped out too!

That is exactly how I feel!!! I am on the older side of the scale here at the lexicon, 27 really soon, and it's not about the number...you are as young as you feel...but in this case, it's different.

Edward will never age...and even if...IF Bella felt eternally young...she won't look like it...and it will make things odd. I know, love is what really matters...but really...could you be happy being old when your boyfriend/husband will always appear to be in his teens? NO...plain and simple.

I agree she MUST be turned before she is 19...now is the time, although I too would really love to see them getting married first.

I've never thought about the legal issue, but the Cullen's break so many laws anyways that it never crossed my mind. Lol, and I found the idea of referring to Edward as a 'minor' rather funny. I agree, it's love that matters, but they'd still be happier if they looked around the same age. Of course the Cullens have a very wide range of ages that they can portray.

Mary Alice wrote:actually, depending on how long they wait to change her it would be alright. The law actually is that if you are 18 and dateing a minor its only illegal if that minor is more than 3 years younger than you. So for now, Edward is still fair game.

Well, actually since Edward is old enough to be Bella's great-great-grandfather, their relationship would be illegal since the three-year rule doesn't apply. (Although I think the dating a minor law focuses on sexual relationships.)

I think it is difficult to talk about the age gap between Edward and Bella, because it's actually quite difficult to assess how old Edward really is.

While he looks like 17, technically he is 110. But while he has the knowledge of someone who lived a century, he doesn't have the experiences of one. He never lived a human life, having a family, experiencing love and loss (until Bella anyway.) Add to this a century of listening to everyone's thoughts and murdering a number of people and it would seem that Edward shouldn't possess any of the innocence commonly associated with 17-year olds.

Either way I don't think that Edward is in any danger to become too young for Bella, except in looks. And looks and happiness have not much to do with each other.

I was like flipping out when i read the part where Bella dreamt she looked like her Grandmother!!

I was like "NAH UH! That CANNOT happen here!" They're just so perfect for each other i couldn't bear the thought of her aging like that and not being able to stay together forever.
