I agree with Juliet. You can only help someone if they let you.

I know it would be hard to understand the pain of someone you loved who just left you. For me personally it's easier to just sa "get over it and move on with your life" but I think that most teenagers (or at least all of my friends) aren't expecting their high school boyfriends or girlfriends to go beyond high school. Therefore for me finding "ture love" at eighteen seems a litte silly. Besides it's not like she opened herself up to any of her friends about the true extent of her feelings for Edward.

However, I have rethought about Bella's situation and what my response would have been to it, and I found myself smack in the middle of another book The Tenth Circle. Trixie just broke up with her boyfriend (whom she thought she loved) and she's not handling it well, her friend, like me, tells her to move on that staying in this state of grief isn't going to improve matters. Eventually her friend does tire from all the sad and mopy-ness that Trixie sucumbs to, and in a way drops her for several reasons. One of them is so that she can remain part of the group that they belong to in High school. Maybe that's why it seemed no one cared, because they were all too worried about fitting in, belonging to a group that had been there long before Bella showed up.

While there are people out there who would have tried to do something, most high school students (again this is my gross generalization that applies to my high school only) would have been like Trixie's friend and stopped being there because they can't stand it any longer. When thinking of myself, I can only hear the same sob story so many times before I shut down.

I think I would have sat her down and smacked her across the face and told her "he isn't coming back so let's move on."

Yes even though I said it wasn't fair how her friends treated her I probably would have done that to my friend too hehe, but i'd still take her back when she came back. I thought that was pretty funny though, just the thought of Jessica doing that to Bella.

Yeah even though I would still be mad at her and probably suggest that she not start dating him again. I would take her back just to catch her next time she fell, which hopefully she won't. The thought of Jessica doing that is rather entertaining. :D

I agree that her "friends" should have been A LOT more supportive! I mean COME ON! It was obvious she was hurting and such, and what do they do? Give her the silent treatment? True, nothing anyone said or did was goning to truly help her, but at least it would have showed they cared. Angela seemed to be the only one who cared Bella was okay after coming out of her shocked state. As for the rest, i don't even consider them her friends for doing that to her. I too have been in situations like that and though they say sometimes silence is best, that you should leave someone alone when they're like that, i always believed that you should at least TRY to do sometign to help. Not once did i see any of them even TRY to talk to her, let alone notice her. If i were her friend, i would have talked to her and such and then backed off, but would have been overjoyed to have her back to her oldself. I would never give her or anyone the silent treatment! That's just crule! Except Lauren...I'd give Lauren the silent treatment <.<...XD

You have to remember that there were around 4 months where we didn't see anything.

We don't know that her friends just upped and ditched her. They probably did try at frist.

yes i know i would say that too. That she shouldnt date edward again. i mean he moves and then he expects you to take him back easily? youve been suffereing and what has he been doing? of course this is from outside perspective because we all know that edward WAS suffering!

*ok why wont the box thing work for me for a quote? or is it just my computer?

Think about it this way: what if, between Twilight and New Moon, Jessica broke up with a boyfriend and she was very depressed. How much do you think Bella would do? Would she hang out with Jess over the summer? Try to get her to come out of her shell? I don't think she would, personally.
Bella was never really friends with any of those people- she never really wanted to be, and she never tried. Especially not after she started hanging with the Cullens. They were more like aquaintances... classmates.

Ahh, yeah true, but still, they seemed pretty cold when she came back if you will. Then again, i would understand their frustration, but still, this is their friend here. I think they would have beena little more kindier and understanding to say the least x_x

Exactly, I think I just might slap her again because she took him back so easily. Ok maybe not more physical violence but at least take her out and tell her that this is a bad idea.

I have pitty for Bella in this situation, but I have none for Edward. Sorry he brought that on himself, he made the choice to leave himself. I don't care if he thoguht it was for the best he didn't try and talk over his departure with Bella at all. His suffering was his own fault.
