The books that inspired Breaking Dawn

Post by Be My Escape »

Stephenie has stated that Breaking Dawn was inspired by A Midsummer NIght Dream but there is also another book that she won't tell us about. Suggest which book you think it could be and why.

Well its most deffinetly a classic. She's used Bronte, Austen and Shakespeare so far... We should look at her favortie books and authors. *Goes off to her site*

I was thinking what if it was tuck everlasting? where the girl chooses a mortal life instead of choosing to be immortal like the one she has fallen in love with...
so what if it is and bella decides not to become a vampire!
personally i am team edward and i would die if this happened, but it makes sense that SM wouldn't tell the name of the book since it would give the story away (assuming it is tuck everlasting)
do you guys think she would do that?

Oh yeah! I almost forgot about Tuck Everlasting. I read it last summer because it reminded me of Bella. (Which is why I didn't like the ending) actually I had been thinking of that book too. I just forgot about it. Nice one!

I think that it will probably be a bronte, or a novel from around that time. I don't think it will be another shakespeare, as it's unlikely she'd use 2 for one novel

How about "Anne of Green Gables" as a genius girl said on the other thread? The characters match and also the story. Maybe SM gave us a little tip in Eclipse.

I agree, I think it might be Anne of Green Gables. It's mentioned in the books, but I would have to read that book to say for sure. Bella keeps referencing that book, so I wonder.....

I was actually thinking the exact same thing. The female characters are essentially facing the same decision. If was the other inspiration, we would know too easily what would happen in BD. I couldnt agree with you more on this one!

Maybe if it is too obvious SM won't really say anything until afterwards? I can see that happening because if there is a major plot point that is similar then she might not say anything about it.
Here, there, and everywhere...that's where you'll find me.
