i wish we knew more about how the venom affects the body...i mean we know the ulitmate result, but not how it happens.
does it change as it goes, which could affect the flow of blood, which would interfer with the morphine or general aenstheic...

Well that is something to think about. They did say that the venom does heal and change the body as it goes so it is possible to say that the morphine might not help! Unless it was given to Bella in a sufficient dose before the bite or just after so that it would have time to work.. and believe me IV meds work fast!

I believe the heart starts to slow down a lot, so the morphine might not get very far... but again that depends on where, how, and when you get it. And you know how the venom "fixes everything"? Would it wake her out of her sleep? Take away the morphine?

that's why i'm thinking that a general aenestia might be better than morphine. or do very heavy sedation - but that has more side effects.
my BF's dad is a aestieologist, but he might think i'm crazy if i ask him about this issue...

So tonight at dinner my mom was asking my dad how my grandma was, and he said something about a "morphine pump." Suddenly I was very interested in the conversation and asked, "She has a morphine pump? What's that?"
My dad started to explain that her doctor gives her doses of morphine and she sticks it in her back, and the machine pushes the morphine out into her. I started to smile, thinking of the possibilities, when my dad asked, "Why are you smiling? Is this funny?"
He's mad because his mom is in pain and he thinks I'm enjoying that (I'm not, I promise, I do feel really bad for her). I assured him it was something else, but he didn't explain anymore, and I didn't want to bring it up again-he looked disturbed.
So what if Bella had this constantly pushing morphine into her? I don't know if it could work (darn my inability to control my facial expressions), but from what my dad said maybe it's some sort of possibility? Someone with experience in this area, is it possible or did I just upset my dad for nothing?

Yeah but General anesthesia would require mechanical ventilation. I don't think we want to stop Bella's respiratory drive. That could kill her too. :(
