The poem is really depressing!
I dunno if it means that someone is going to die that is close to bella. Or if it means, that when she's changed and her loved ones have all eventually died, she'll really realize what shes sacrificed to be with Edward

Okay I read the entire poem and it just seems like she's saying that adults take life for granted and children live in an innocence that doesn't have to know or understand death, regret, or not saying and doing all of the things you wished you had said or done. To children, no one ever dies because they aren't faced with mortality of growing old. As an adult you realize that you grow old and eventually die but as a child, you innocently believe you can live forever and that everyone else does too.

How it might relate to BD, is that even immortals die and Bella innocently (like a child) doesn't face the true meaning of death.

i dont think bella realizes the gravity of her decision yet. shes so naive at times!

I think that she is starting to realise what she is doing. it's why she is so freaked out in the preface

Yea i either think thats why shes freaked out in the preface. or its just before the wedding and they're both nervous and shes just realizing what she's committing too. The wedding is pretty much the point of no return

I doubt the preface is going to be relating to the wedding. One wouldn't want to think that SM's Bella is thinking of her marriage as a death.

i think the poem means that Bella is entering this childhood where no one grows old. I mean, the vampires don't age, and so, in a way, they are in an eternal childhood. Jane especially  the poem, though, when it was written and had nothing to do with vampires, probably referred to the innocence of children, kind of a peter pan type theme, as in children don't have many worries and cares....alright, who am i kidding, children worry about lots of things, but they're not of the same consequence as adult-worries. you know what i mean, remember when you were a kid. you weren't a just a little Heidi frolicking around in the fields. and anyways, Heidi had a lot of worries, too. point taken? sorry, in know that i've gotten WAY off topic, but to know what i mean, you might want to actually READ Heidi. Its a really good book! not quite the same sort of thrill as a vampire romance, but i like it. Hmmm.....that was off topicish. oh well. anyways, i think the poem just confirms what we're all hoping for: Bella is going to be a vampire.

children see the world as place full of wonder and mystery, for they see none of the bad, like death.
once this is understood you become an adult.

to me the poem is very difficult.i think that it could mean two things.
1.that jake......will never turn back into a human again.werwolves are hard to kill i presume and age doesnt come unless you dont change ever again.i figure that jake feels that being human is not a necessity unless he has bella...or even if she stays alive.and i qoute''childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies'' i also think that the ''childish things'' refers to his emotions or feelings.

2.that bella is coming into a whole other world.if you recall the poem saying that childhood is not from a certain age.....possibly meaning that anyone can be changed no matter what age....... and that when a person is grown then they put away childish things.that in a way...how i dont kno....makes me think of pain.i mean kids think pain is the worst thing in the world.adults just grin and bear it.so in that sense it could be talking about her being changed into a vampire.

now i myself think that its more about the first one.but in a way it could even be about her marrying edward.she has to put her fears and her embarrasment over everything and just marry the dang vampire.so fear can be concieved as a childish thing.but many assumptions can be made so who knos wat the heck sm will do?

I think it relates to Bella finally realizing what she wants in life and making the choice to leave behind her human life to be with the one she loves, through out the series Bella has matured a lot and now in BD she is leaving behind those immature ways
