yeah. i like the books, they are very gripping, but twilight really wasn't written very well. it wandered alot.
i think she's been making better outlines and has the plot worked out ahead of time. and maybe better editors, more experience.

She was so different! She was much more mature-maybe now she's and elderly person, instead of middle aged-! But, the happy place thing made me think that it was way out of character. Don't you think?

Yes, I see that. But, it has not ever been mentioned before, and I thought it was a little bit...different, considering the context.

The first chapter left me feeling... not disappointed but... unsettled maybe. I'm not sure. I can't quite put my finger on it but I don't think it's Bella maturing. If she was being mature, she wouldn't have whined so much about getting married. The way she was acting and what she was thinking made me feel like the wedding won't happen. I don't know but this book can not come out fast enough! I am bitng my nails off thinking about it.

Bella is definately more mature.

But then, agreeing to change species, get married and having your best friend run away can do that to a girl!

she has had alot happen. and she isn't whinny about getting married, it's about the wedding and being the focus of small town gossip.
andyone at any age, has the right to be whinny about that

When I read the first chapter (courtesy of someone breaking copyright on the internet!) I first was puzzled by SM's different style of writing.

The extended flash back was so out of character for her (SM) but perhaps it was just a tool for moving the action along fast as there is a lot to pack into this book.

I was listening to an interview SM did for Amazon where she describes books 1, 2 and 3 as Finding True Love, Losing True Love and Choosing True Love.

I think choosing true love and living with its consequences (and being with Edward comes with a lot of consequences) is what matured Bella.

It was that last chapter of Eclipse that Bella truely matured, realising what she was giving up, the sacrifices she will have to make and realising how her actions affected those she loved the most.

For me chapter one was just a further extension of that. I think her tone was sad because by being changed she is giving up so much. But there was a mature acceptance to the tone as well.

What I did like about the chapter was seeing the (albeit uneasy) acceptance from Charlie at the end when he tries on his suit for the wedding. I thought that was touching.

I'd like to marry Edward, dance with George Sampson, have dinner with Jamie Oliver and to star on the West End with Lee Mead.

Umm...you don't have to post it here or anything, but I don't remember any "extended vulgar language." Where was that?
"I went straight to my window. I shoved the metal frame roughly--it crashed shut, and the glass trembled.
"I stared at the shivering black glass for a long moment, until it was still. Then I sighed, and opened the window as far as it would go."
