SM - The Volturi

The Volturi confuse/scare me a lot (ps I totally agree with the whole freaky-Jane-doll statement from above). On the one hand, they stand for protecting the vampire world by preventing humans from discovering their existance. It goes against their "beliefs" (for lack of a better word) to openly provoke the Cullens for no reason, other than their own jealousy. On the other hand, the Cullens pose a huge theat the them (and they probably think that they pose an even bigger threat than they really do, since they think the Cullens killed all the newborn army w/o help).

I was thinking about this dilema, and I thought of a way for them to kill two birds with one stone, and become the major point of conflict. I was reading on another thread about the Volturi being really clever and decietful, and I tend to agree with that. I see them more planning out a sneaky and well devised plan, rather than runnning into the wedding all crazy,or kidnapping Bella/Edward in front of a bunch of people.

I think that either someone will accidently leak info about the evidence to the humans (maybe Charlie, or whomever) and the Volturi will then be obligated to come and take control of the Cullens...OR the Volturi will plant evidence against the CUllens, making it seem like they violated the Vampire Law, in which case they could openly attack them, and save face.

But then again, who's going to argue with them if they feel like attacking the Cullens for no other resaon than they feel threatened by them? The Volturi can pretty much do what they want at this point...

I also agree that the Volturi are jealous of the size of the Cullen family and would rather have them eliminated.

In Eclipse, I think if the Cullens had gone to stop the young vampires from exposing them to humans, the Volturi could have used that as a reason to attack the Cullens.

They also like to bend their own rules to suit their needs as they arise I have noticed. Just look at how they threatened to kill Bella in New Moon for her knowledge of the vampire world...yet they use humans to front their very own charade....yes and they say taht eventually they'll serve as sustenance, but the fact of the matter is that they do bend their own rules if it suits them.

I think that the Cullens will take out Jane, Alec, Demetri, Felix and the rest of the guard. I don't think the Volturi will send them, as much as I think they'll go on their own. When the main three find out, they try to stop them from going, but are stopped (not killed). Then maybe at the battle, one guard gets away and goes back to Italy and releases the three from whatever power was used and he tells them that the Cullens got rid of them all. Then the main three would get word to the Cullens and leave them in charge of the US, but that they have to report to them if it gets out of hand or they need help. This way no Cullen has to die!

I liked the Volturri until about page 482-483 (paperback) when all of the humans were being tricked into coming in to the "lair" so to speak. The worst part was the woman with the rosary who was panicked and scared, but no one could understand her. It repulses me to see anything like that, even though i love the rest of the book. It gave me a really sick feeling, especially because she was religious... and yet, going to be eaten by vampires.

I still love Jane, though.

I don't think that the whole Volturi guard can be taken out, because (as Jasper told us) most of the vampires are thankful for what they do to suppress the Southern vampires. The whole vampire world would come crashing down.

Jane ( ) really needs to be taught a lesson (sorry mudkip... I hate her. If there was some way to reflect her talent back to her, and make her experience the pain that she forces on others, then maybe she could become a better person. As it is, she freaks me out (I agree with the porcelain doll scary stuff).

i think there is defintintly (sp?) a reason the guard is considered seperate from the Volturi. i think the whole jane and alec thing is a red herring covering up who the truly dangerous ones are. like i said before, there is a reason why the guard answers to the Volturi.

Probably because they are scared of them and they don't want to cross them in the wrong way kind of like in the Godfather You do what you are told and the world is at peace but you cross them or make them mad then bye bye life... Okay I am not a human dictionary but what does Red Herring mean?
