The volturi are all very powerful vampires. They are all specially chosen due to their powers.
They are scary, but at least they can keep the bad vamps under control!

the voluri were chosen for their powers. they aren't just random vamps that said, hey, i want to be a part of their group! No. they were chosen for their powers. So i wasn't too surprised. Worried about what would happen if the Cullen's fought them, maybe...

I was just thinking of something from NM. When Alice and Aro touched, and Aro saw that Bella was going to be changed into a vampire..why did he take it so absolutely? Because, Alice also has seen Bella dying...

One reason could be that THAT was what he was looking for. The book said he could see every memory of a person by touching them, but I doubt that each time he touches someone he's interested in learning his or her life story... he just wanted an answer to his question, and Alice gave it to him. Besides, we know all about her control when it comes to the mind (though I have to admit, that may not have worked with Aro... )

Seems to make sense, correct me if I missed something vital...

I thought that, too.. but Aro was looking for Bella's future... so, that would have shown up, too I think.. I dunno, though.

Yeah I was thinking about that.. but if he's looking for Bella's future, and Alice offered that specific memory of a vision to him, why would he concentrate on seeing whether or not she had more to it? Does he know that she sees only probable futures? He seemed very excited at that point in the book; I don't think he was focusing on the accuracy of the vision. If she saw it, he must have derived that she saw what exactly was going to happen.

I hated how they got there prey!! It was awful!! But I have to admit, I have a desire to learn more about them. I liked Aro though, his happy go luckiness made me laugh a little. ok i think that all my thoughts......
Honestly, at first I was very concerned for all of their lives but I love the Italy part It was intense and I kept thinking OH NO SHE IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT!! I love how she knocks him off the wall I think it was a wall and how he caught her and wouldn't let go of her even when they were going to meet with Aro and she was cold and she kept grabbing onto him.. Okay back to the volturi I actually really like Aro I like how he didn't grant Edwards request and understood the connection that Bella and Edward had the really really strong bond I mean.. I like how he said that he loves happy endings even though Marcus and Caius didn't really agree but I like how he was so intrigued by Bella and the powers that she could have because how imune she is to Edward and Aro.. He did make me nervous at first but as I kept reading he didn't bother me that much I hated the way they killed innocent people that made me cringe... Jane was creepy and Heidi was frightening and how she lured innocent people in and I don't know how Gianna wanted to stay there.. I mean the cullens are great and wonderful and I would be okay with them but not hanging out being a human around the volturi

& " I am a VIRGO" I love this because I am a VIRGO too!! so I know where her stubbornness comes from...

Correct me if I'm wrong, apart from Aro, Marcus and Caius, aren't there also two female members of the Volturi family? I think SM mentioned them once in one of the PCs? Now unless they're Aro's and Caius' wives or something and, aside from that, don't have much bearing on the other family affairs. They are, however, members of one of the most powerful vampire covens in the story (and the likely antagonist for BD). I wonder if we'll get to see them in BD?

He may not be interested in their life story, but he will still receive the entirety of it. And her ability to keep Edward from reading her thoughts would not work with Aro because he would get each and every one of them. is ability, while limited to physical touch, does not possess the same fallibility that Edward has.

Yes, there are two unnamed females who are most likely Aro's and Caius' mates respectively (FYI, vampires have mates, not wives. Two different concepts).

How do you know they do not have much bearing on family affairs? The most influential are always the subtle ones, the ones influencing and manipulating from behind the throne. The fact that we do not meet them does not mean they are not forces to be contended with in their own right.

I don't know whether they have any influence or not, but considering it seems to only be Aro, Caius and Marcus of the Volturi famiglia we keep hearing about and seeing, I was wondering if their "mates" possibly might not have any more relevance than that. Not to say the Volturi are heap of chauvinists, but it is only the menfolk that seem to be getting all the play. Perhaps you're right though and they turn out to be some sort of silent power behind the throne.
