I count 4:
Theseus and Hippolyta
Titania and Oberon
Lysander and Hermia
Demetrius and Helena
I'm quoting myself because I think I miscounted.

There should be 6:
Theseus and Hippolyta
Titania and Oberon
Lysander and Hermia
Demetrius and Helena
Lysander and Helena
Demetrius and Hermia

So, Eclipse, which hasn't been released yet and might even still be undergoing revisions, is okay to talk about, but no other future books are?

It is so weird that A Midsummer Night's Dream has a connection to Breaking Dawn, because I just had to read it for my summer reading list for school. It actually made me much more excited to read the book because as I was reading it I tried to imagine Bella/Edward/Jacob (and all the other characters) in the play. I can definately see a large part of the connection between the two books being Jacob trying to convince Bella that he is the one who cares for her the most and who would be willing to do more for her than Edward (aka Lysander). That argument might not be hard to make since Edward spends half of his time trying to convince Bella that she would be better off without him. Which is ridiculous, of course :D

Midsummer Night's Dream = Imprinting?

Post by esmesque »

I wonder if the whole Midsummer Night's Dream thing relates to imprinting. I hope that the next book tells us how Jacob ends up - whether he imprints or not.

I wonder if Leah and Jacob will imprint. That would be so wierd for their group for sure, especially for Sam. But they seem to be an unlikely couple. Leah, being the only girl in the group, will naturally try to comfort Jacob - it is a possibility in my book. Better yeat Leah and Charlie (now that would be an odd couple).

Other than that, everyone is with who they should be with. Who is left?
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

I really like the comparison between A Midsummer Night's Dream and Twilight. It's by far my favorite Shakespearean play. I really hope everything works out in the end, like the play, because Jacob is really annoying me. And no, he isn't going to imprint on Leah. The first time he sees the girl after his first transformation is when they imprint.

I think Alice would make a good Puck. She's pixie-like and mischievous.

And I don't think Charlie would give Bella any sort of ultimatum because she would just up and move in with the Cullens.

Yeah, I think that Jacob will definitely end up with someone else (whoever he imprints on) by the end of the series. I can see Charlie getting pretty upset over the thought of Bella marrying Edward. And I can also see Bella and Edward deciding to "run away" together.

I don't think the whole jealousy plot will play into the books though...I mean, Edward just can't supposedly fall in love with anyone else.

I'm sure someone else has already mentioned this, but...

While re-reading Eclipse, I found a scene where Edward compares the magic of imprinting to A Midsummer Night's Dream because it confuses everyone's relationships...

I basically see this as a hidden hint that Jake will imprint in Breaking Dawn, thus complicating the situation further....

Stephenie has already said that the next book will be similar to shakespeare's play, so I am starting to see this as an almost sure-fire thing.

Umm.. did you read the Eclipse epilogue at ALL? xD Leah's a total snotface! And she's COMPLETELY full of herself. Jake deserves way, waaay better than her.
