twilight_girl..x there's an entire thread devoted to guess what this mystery book is. It's "Books that Inspired Breaking Dawn". There are a TON of books, theories, and guesses on it to help your frenzied mind (or make it even more crazy with all of the different ideas in it!).

it wont let me delete this so i'll type something here hehe.

I dont really konw how much more we can add to this debate, i think we've kind of discussed all the ways MSND can be used on the surface. But would LOVE to read someone elses take if you've read the whole play or been part of a preformance of it. I've read the sparknotes summery of it and i have the basics, but Shakespeare is soooo deep and has so many ways to take whats going on, so who knows maybe theres some lit class take on it that we're missing. Any other English Lit. majors or people with degrees in English Lit. or preforming arts person who have done some au vant gard (i hope i spelled that correct) version of the play who want to bring their class/preformance experience into this discussion???

Its actually a pretty entertaining story its not tragic and it has its twists and turns and everyone has a happy ending and everyone ends up with their true love... But I think that someone said that SM loosely tied it in.. Good luck reading it is very long.. Go read cliff notes version of it..

A midsummernights dream actually ends happily with everyone ending up with the one who is right just for them so Jacob may imprint on someone and Bella will end up with Edward hopefully:)

I really didn't want to read through 15 pages of posts to see if someone said what I'm thinking [that would be really time consuming but someone probably has] but I just wanted to throw this out there. So you have Edward Loves Bella, Jacob Loves Bella, Bella loves Edward..so who is our 4th person who doesn't have anyone that loves her..? Okay that's it.

Also, I was watching an interview with SM and she said there were two books which Breaking Dawn was loosely based off of 1)MSND and 2) she won't name it. I feel BD has some MSND elements in it but the other book (which is not named) has a bigger influence. She didn't tell us the name because it could give us spoilers (or give away the ending...) and SM has said herself that she wants her fans to find out how it all ends just like Bella[[no spoilers..]]

I also didnt want to read trough all 15 pages, because it is very time consuming, so my theories have probably already been said, well, typed, but whatever.
so, i did read a few of the posts, and they gave me some ideas. ok, most people assume that edward and bella are hermia and lysander and jacob is demetrius. but, jacob has already ran away, so what if Jacob comes and kidnaps Bella before the wedding, and so they "run" off together. Edward comes after Bella and Jacob, hence, Demetrius. And Helena is just alice, who does love edward, just not in that way, and she follows him to tell him about a vision or something...Stephenie did say it was very loosely related.
or, I have another theory. what if Edward and Bella do run off, and Jacob follows, but Leah just gets so sick and tired of Jacob staying away, that she comes after him. and Helena(leah) wants Demetrius(Jacob), to love her, but to him, she is a nuissance, and Jacob did say that leah was a nuissance to him. so maybe neither imprints, but they do end up together.

ok, also, everyone keeps on mentioning this Kim person, but isnt there already a kim, i think it was jared who imprinted on her, but SM wouldnt have 2 kims, would she???? or am I just confused on this subject..someone please explain???!?!?!?!?

ok, those are some of my theories, but i have millions of them...

I think some of these theories are a little too literal. I mean, look at Twilight with Pride and Prejudice. The only similarities were that Bella&Edward had little quirks like Lizzy&Mr. Darcy. New Moon tied in closest to Romeo and Juliet, but that was only since Edward thought Bella was dead and was about to commit suicide. Wuthering Heights was basically used for Bella to connect herself to a literary character she was familiar with, and the quotes of course were used to express their feelings. So personally, I think that the fairy magic in MSND is like the werewolf's form of imprinting. In another thread someone brought up that Edward already compared imprinting to MSND in EC. Therefore, I am 98% certain that this is where it connects. I don't think that there's going to be all of this running around like chickens with their heads cut off, falling for all these different people, and that each step in BD will exactly follow MSND to precision. Or, go rent the theatrical version....sometimes I find it's easier to follow Shakespeare if I can see it performed rahter than read it.

I'm a little nervous about Breaking Dawn being inspired by A Midsummer's Night Dream because the lovers in it get all mixed up, and I don't want that to happen!!
