Pre-Ordering/Shipping

Post by TeamEdward:D » Sun Jul 06, 2008 2:52 pm

When you pre order a book does it arrive at your house on the release day or is it shipped on the release day?
JW

If this is the wrong place for this or is already mentioned I apologize in advance.
Thanks!

When you pre-order, there is a place to select "pick up in store." Then you select which store you wish to pick it up at. After you do that, you should get a confirmation email. You can also go to the store, itself, and reserve it.

When I pre-ordered a book and had it shipped to my house I recieved it the day it was released but later in the afternoon (that's when my mail arrives at my house). So if you had it shipped to your house I'm guessing it'll come with the mail..whatever time that happens to fall in.

edit: I forgot to mention that this happened atleast 4 years ago so things probably have changed since then but its just my experience with pre-ordering.

This is how I reserved my BD. On the right side of the page you can "Add To Your Stores." You can enter your zip and select a store near you. Then, you'll need to search that store's inventory for BD. On the upper right side of the page you'll notice a place to select "Pre-order for in-store pick-up." If you click on that it will let you pre-order it.

If you are still unsure, you should go to the store itself and reserve a copy in person.

Mm, I dunno, here, I just pre-ordered Braking Dawn from Borders with a deposit of $5. I gotta pick it up on the day (or somewhere before two weeks after it I think) and you can use the $5 to pay for the book... something like that. I dont think you get a mailing option here.. or maybe it's just cos I didnt ask.

I pre-ordered from Amazon and it says that it will ship out on the 4th. But Amazon usually ships out faster than the date they have listed sometimes.

I always order with amazon too.

But when I ordered Eclipse, it came 3 days after the release.

So if anyone has that problem, I know that your local book stores usually don't mind if you pick up the book there and read a chapter or two while you wait.

(I wouldnt do it if you haven't purchased the book though...that would be kind of dishonest.)

Last year I ordered my HP Deluxe Edition from B&N with the fastest shipping method they had (it was kind of expensive) but UPS brought it to my front door just a couple hours after I had finished the book I picked up from the midnight release party. It just depends on who you order from.
