You don't need to buy a ticket to the release parties, but it might be a good idea to pre-purchase the book. And it's fun to go with a friend(s) but you do make more friends with the other fans.

As for Walmart, I don't think they are going to have one. You can call and ask them though.
I think the book stores have caught on to how big Breaking Dawn is going to be, but I'm not sure the big box chains are that "on" to it.
Say what you mean, but don't be mean with what you say.

BYU Bookstore

Post by jens572 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 9:17 pm

The BYU Bookstore on the BYU campus in Provo put up signs this week announcing they will be hosting a midnight release party for Breaking Dawn. I don't know details, but anyone that lives in the area can check it out. According to their website, http://www.byubookstore.com/ePOS/form=c ... &store=439 , the release party will be from 11:00 pm to 12:30 am. I'm a student at BYU, and I went to their release party for HP 7 last year. They did a great job with it, especially in handing out the books quickly (I even saw my organic chemistry professor dressed up as Rita Skeeter). Hopefully this helps those asking about events in the Provo/Orem area!

Jordan Landing updates

Post by bookaddict333 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 2:17 am

Phew! Haven't been here in a while! *dusts off the avatar*
I have updates!
In regards to the Jordan Landing Breaking Dawn Party:

You do not need to RSVP in order to come nor will you need to buy tickets. I do strongly suggest however, that you preorder the book. It doesn't cost anything to preorder and you don't have to put anything down. It just gives the store an idea of how many books to expect and gives me a ballpark estimate of how many people will come to the party! (Which will really helps me out, preorders+bookaddict333=happy) It also guarantees you a copy of the book when they come in! Not a bad deal!

In other news, I've tweaked the time. The party will start at 8:30 pm instead of 9:00 pm. (I wanted to give you guys more time to play) Also, I'm now 95% sure that we will be getting wristbands for line placement. Yay! Here is how that will work. We will start distributing the wristbands at 9:00 am on August 1st. You will get one of two wristbands. One for the line for those who have pre-ordered the book, or one for those who just "walk in". The pre-ordered line will be in front of the walk in line and will get the book first. (Yet another reason to pre-order!) Since the wristbands will have your place in line on them, you won't need to worry about camping out all day for the book! You can concentrate on more important things such as having an absolute blast at the party!

Just as an FYI type thing, I know that Barnes and Noble has officially announced that the party theme will be prom related. I just want to reassure everyone that we are still doing the wedding reception. (Just in case there was any confusion)

I also want to mention that you still have one more chance to come to the book discussion group for Eclipse! It will be on Thursday, July 10th @ 7:00 pm. I have it on good authority they are ton of fun!

Well, I believe that is it in the way of updates. Here is the number for the Jordan Landing B&N in case you would prefer to call and order you book instead of going in person which is also perfectly acceptable. (801) 282-1324. (Yes, I am shamelessly encouraging pre-ordering) :)
If I didn't make any sense and you have more questions, just let me know!

so i have a question. my friends and i kind of want to have our own little party at my house and then at midnight go over to the jordan landing barns and noble. would that be cool? or would you all hate us for coming later? sorry, thats just been bugging me.

and another thing. see, my mom doesn't want me to pre-order the book (don't ask me why...), so there will still be a book for me, correct? sorry, i know i'm a lttle lost.

In answer to your question, I can say that I won't hate you if you have your own party before coming to get your book. And, I didn't reserve a book last time, but I don't think that there was the same vast excitement then, that there is now.

I'm going to reserve my book just as a pre-caution.

Good luck with your mom. (I'm lucky, because I am the mom

I wouldn't hate you. I might cry a bit though. :)

I'm not sure why your mom doesn't want you to pre-order the book, I can only recommend that you do. (Is she worried that you have to pre-pay for the book if you pre-order?) Like I mentioned earlier, if you don't, you will be in the line behind those who have pre-ordered. (It's going to be a long line, just to warn you.) I am positive though that we will have enough books to go around. However, you can never be sure. Pre-ordering is the only way you can be 100% guaranteed to have a copy.
Just as a reminder, we will be passing out wristbands for line placement beginning at 9:00 am on August 1st. You will need a wristband to get the book at 12:01 am regardless of when you arrive. (We will be putting the number of books you need on the wristbands so we can get you guys through the line faster.) Besides Twilight fans+long wait time= People armed with pitchforks and hounds.

ok thank you!! i'm actually thinking that maybe, just maybe, i can get my friends to come with me to this release party. just clarrifying, do you have to dress up?
maybe i'll just ask my mom if i can go to barns and noble and just happen to go up to the counter and pre-order the book. that or i can try to convince her to let me do it. that might work better.
so you are going to be handing out the wristbands at 9:00 AM? does that go for people who have pre-ordered the book as well? and where do you go to get them? just the front counter? sorry, i'm a bit confused.

No, you do not. I promise there won't be big burly bouncers at the door denying you entrance if you don't. :) On the other hand, it would add to the fun of the party. I remember I didn't dress up for a Harry Potter release one year and was secretly jealous of the people who had. When I dressed up for the next book that came out, I don't know why, but it seemed like so much more fun, like I was getting in on the action.

urcoolcarrie wrote:so you are going to be handing out the wristbands at 9:00 AM does that go for people who have pre-ordered the book as well?
Yes we will be passing out the wristbands as soon as we open that morning and will continue to pass out the wristbands throughout the day. And yes, you still need to pick up a wristband if you have pre-ordered the book. Pre-ordering (or not pre-ordering) will determine whether you will be in the first line or the second. Picking up the wristband will determine where you will be in that line. Does that make more sense? (Or have I confused you even more?)
urcoolcarrie wrote:and where do you go to get them? just the front counter? sorry, i'm a bit confused.
We will have a table set up near the entrance as you enter the store. Don't worry, we'll have signs that say "Breaking Dawn wristband pick up here" or something similar so you know where it is. I was toying with the idea of getting large neon arrows pointing to the table, but I don't think the management would go for it. :)

And don't worry about asking questions! In fact, I'm glad you do! I know there are others out there with the same questions that are glad that you did! So feel free to ask away!

Just a side note for you urcoolcarrie.
I have been reading other posts and I, personaly, think that the Barnes and Noble at Jordan Landing is the party of choice.
The reception idea is tops! (I'm biased, I love weddings and my girls are excited to wear bridesmaid dresses)
And you do have to admit, it is fun to dress up! I'm 45 and Halloween is still my favorite holiday because I can be as silly as I want and it's ok.
I'm pretty sure you can call to reserve your book. So you don't have to sneak to a store.
You can tell your mom that the parties mostly consist of the female population with a few brave young men who come with their sisters and other friends. But there are litterally hundreds of girls and women.
You would be safe as can be if you stay inside the party.
When it came time to stand in line last year, there was a group of girls right behind me that had the smarts to bring a dvd player and watched a movie in line.
In fact, if your mom is worried you are too young, she could easily come and find a comfortable chair and read, take a nap or watch all the sillyness around her.
She might even be surprised and find she has friends there that are came for themselves or their daughters or both!
Good luck!
