Agreed!

If this were made into a manga/anime it would be interesting to see.

OMG that would be so cool!

I love the French titles, they are insanely appropriate. I think Bella even uses the word "fascination" in Twilight when she was kind of kicking herself in the rear for letting herself feel that way about Edward, the same way Edward brings in "twilight" to give the book meaning. The characters' names don't change too much in the French version, Esme is "Esmée" I think that that's the only name that changes.

I've got the German versions too, because they look so nice on the Bookshelf... But I prefer the original language.
The translation of Bis(s) zur Mittagsstunde is even worse than te translation of Bis(s) zum Morgengrauen... They changed the translator.^^
But I kind of like the word-play in the Title!

Well I read Twilight in swedish, its name is "Om jag kunde drömma" translated it means "If I could dream".
Then I read New Moon and Eclipse in english cause they didn't have them in swedish yet, and I just couldn't wait for them.
They have still not translated Eclipse, but the New Moon in swedish is called "När jag hör din röst", translated it means "When I hear your voise".
Happiness rushed threw me
Like an arrow on the way to its goal
Now I finally can be free
Cause the arrow is now bearid in my soul

Okay..., that come out weird, if I don't write it with the three last letters in the swedish alphabet it would be:
"Nar jag hor din rost"
So just skip that between called and translated...

Well in Finland the books are called:

Twilight -> Houkutus (which means Temptation, I think it's fairly ok 'cos I think a direct translation (Iltahamara) could have sounded a bit odd)
New moon -> Uusikuu (which is a direct translation and means new moon)

Eclipse hasn't been translated yet. All in all I think the translations are pretty good. I did enjoy reading them. Of course it's always better in the original language. :)

Sansa wrote:I know the word makes sense, it's only that it shocked me, because I first read Eclipse in English, and I got used to "imprinting".
And well, about other translations I know of Twilight are the French ones. They've changed the titles:
-Fascination (the same word in English - Twilight)
-Tentation (the same word - New Moon)
-Hésitation (the same word, too - Eclipse)
I really hate the titles in french. I speak french and well the translations weren't really well done (for the titles i mean). "Fascination" in english is the same, "Fascination"! which clearly, does not mean "Twilight". The titles for New Moon and Eclipse were also badly translated. If only they had someone like me to translate from french to english or vise versa. :)

i got super frustrated because i went back to get them all in hard cover, becuase i like all my favorite books in hard cover, and i was like YES they have them all and i walked up and they had all the english copies on saft-cover, and some weird language in hardcover i wanted to kill someone. And what was really stupid is it wasnt even spanish, like i can understand english and spanish but man this is texas no one really speaks anything but english and spanish.
it was totally tragic.
