Chapter Five: Imprint

Post by Alphie »

Thanks to Be My Escape for the following questions!

1. How do you feel about imprinting?

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?

1. How do you think about imprinting? Imprinting is quite interesting. It seems as though the two people involved don't have a choice but to except the other. It's for the best, I suppose.

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not? I did feel different about the wolves. I became more compassionate about them. I was not a big fan of Sam and now I adore him becuase I saw that he had many struggles. He puts on a good show in front of the pack but inside, he feels guilty.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her? Yes. Edward knew that it was wrong of him to leave Bella. He knew that she had suffered. Jacob dd not have to make it worse.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say? I believe that it does. I don't think I would hold hands with a guy who was just a friend. Maybe Bella's actions made Jacob more confident about them as a couple.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones? The wolves are able to get advice from each other on their problems. They can also be more like a family. The downside is that there is no freedom. There are no secrets and they have to share everything with each other, even if they don't want to.

1. How do you think about imprinting?
It's just like the concept of soulmates. I don't understand why it needs to be mystified.

2. Does Sam’s story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?

It gives more insight into werewolves and yes, I do look at things differently. I feel more sympathetic and less ignorant about the wolves now because I feel l know what they go through. It's just as complicated as being a vampire.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?

I'm not sure. I mean, I think Edward needs to know what he did to Bella but at the same time Jacob wanted to hurt Edward and that's not right for him to do that. It's horrible, rude, and mean. Edward knew he was wrong and to be reminded of that is painful and it will make his protective behavior even worse.

4. Do Bella’s actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?

It certaintly does. I understand that Jacob and Bella are friends. Best friends, even. But you don't hold hands with your best friend and betray your boyfriend--no, your soulmate--in order to see your best friend. It's crossing the line.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?

It helps the wolves understand one another and communicate, which is an advantage. But at the same time, one needs privacy. Which is of course, a disadvantage.

1. How do you think about imprinting?
Ummmmm, it's really weird as far as I can tell...lol

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?
No, I understand the reasons behind the way they are now - but it doesn't change the way I feel about them because I dislike Jacob.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?
No, but it was really quite cruel - but Edward kind of deserved to see what state he left her in.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?
The question doesn't make sense to me...

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?
I think it would be really quite terrible! NO SECRETS, everything you were ever ashamed of just layed out in front of you. It should be very frustrating!

1. How do you think about imprinting?
It seems like it can be extremely inconvenient and is almost creepy and obsessive. I've gone off about my opinion of imprinting a lot in the "Girl for Jacob" thread so I won't repeat myself...

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?
I already felt pretty compassionate towards them. It made me pretty sad, especially about everything Leah has been through because of the werewolf thing.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?
If Bella had to live with those feelings and Jacob had to see her go through it for months, he can deal with seeing it for a few seconds. And he had a point saying "She's been through worse." But still he was being kind of mean about it.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?
Yes, but nothing that's not true; she's in huge denial about the way she really feels about Jacob.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?
It probably makes them pretty close in a way almost nobody can with their friends, like a family, even if it can be embarrassing. Maybe after a while you would get used to your friends seeing all your most private thoughts or get better at not thinking about them while you're phased.

1. How do you think about imprinting?

It seems really really complicated. Its certainly an interesting way to find your soulmate.

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?

It makes me feel pity for Sam and all that he's been through. However, it doesn't change my opinion on werewolves and it doesn't change my opinion of Jacob.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?

Yes! Edward already knows how much Bella suffered and he's truly sorry. There was no need for Jacob to make him suffer even more for something that can't be changed. I think Jacob was just being cruel.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?

Yes, doing those things only send the wrong message even if that's not the way they are intended. Those kind of things probably gave Jacob hope that maybe he could get Bella to choose him.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?

Well it would come in handy in a fight but having everyone know all your secrets and most deep personal thoughts is not exactly what I would call pleasant.

1. How do you think about imprinting?
Imprinting terrifies me! Imagine being happy and in love and then one day BAM new story! The lack of control involved in imprinting is very strange and VERY scary.

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not? Like I said above, the whole imprinting thing is really terrifying and I can definitely imagine what it would have been like for Sam. It definitely makes me feel more connected to the wolves as characters.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her? No. I think Edward needed to really understand what he put her through when he left. Otherwise he might have, in the future, felt compelled to remove his presence from her again. No matter how painful it was for him to see those images, he needed to see them.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say? Definitely, she's leading him on, and vaguely she knows it. This is not the way friends act. This is the way people who are deeply in love act.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones? I shudder to think of people being able to read my thoughts! I'm sure it's very helpful in terms of coordinating as a pack, but honestly it must really suck for everything else :p

1. How do you think about imprinting?
I think it's interesting... definitely abnormal. I actually think it's great... to be sure you have true love that will never go wrong... sounds good to me. Of course, in Sam's situation, not so nice... I ALMOST feel bad for Leah.

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compassionate towards them? Why or why not?
I never thought badly about the wolves, so no I don't think it changed my opinion.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?
I'm on the fence about it. Yes because it was just petty. And it was immature and Edward has probably seen enough of it from other peoples' minds. And no, because, well... he did warn everybody about fighting fair. And, frankly, we all know Edward is great, but he kind of fought dirty too, if you'll kindly remember.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?
Without meaning them to, of course they do. He thinks he still has a chance, when in Bella's heart, she knows he doesn't. Mike is right... girls are cruel.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?
Advantages: Coordination, as it's mentioned... and it'd be easier to understand. I bet they never have to say, "You just don't get it!" to their wolf friends.
Disadvantages: You have no secrets. Everybody is entitled to one secret, and they just don't have any... it'd be really crappy, I think. Also, maybe understanding just a little TOO much!! Eek.

1. How do you think about imprinting?
I was really fascinated by it, actually. Of course, the first thing i thought was "Did Jacob imprint on Bella?!", but when they really explained it, I thought it was incredible.

2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?
I've never really liked Sam after the whole cult thing in New Moon, but now hearing the whole love triangle mix up, i feel bad for him but I still don't like him. I understand how tormented he must feel, what with breaking leah's heart and hurting his own Emily so long ago, he must have it pretty rough. But I can't see I feel more compassionate for him, it was still mean, even though he couldnt control it, of him to break leah in such a painful way.

3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?
Oh yeah, that was just mean. Edward feels guilty enough and is doing everything to make things better while Jacob can strut around, trying to show Edward what he did to Bella. Edward's hurting enough all ready without you, stupid dog.

4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?
I think she is being a little like a... tease to him (it sounds like the wrong word, and I don't mean it in a mean way). she's sending him messages about hows he loves Edward and that it can't ever be that way with Jacob, but still she holds his hand that way and always keeps him hanging with a "i'll be back soon." I think if she ever expects Jacob to get over her, she should back up and give him at least a little more space.

5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?
I feel really bad for the wolves on this one. Edward is a mature and nice boy, and we all know he wouldn't take his mind-reading to a point where he intends to be intrusive, and also he's only one person. but the wolves have to deal with their best friends knowing their every feeling, their every hope, their every desire. Sure, they're like family, but sometimes you dont even want your closest family to hear some things you think. Also, these guys aren't the most mature. I bet they make fun of each other all the time about one another's thoughts.

1. How do you think about imprinting?
It is a little unusual, but it is just a different way of finding your soul mate. I think it is kind of romantic in that once you find her (well Leah finds him) then it is like as Jacob said: "When you see her, suddenly it's not the earth holding you here anymore. She does. And nothing matters more than her".
2. Does Sam's story make you feel differently about the wolves? Do you feel more compasionate towards them? Why or why not?
It did make me feel different about the wolves. A bond so strong that Sam had to break all the promises he made with Leah. A disappointment like that would make someone pretty bitter. Also phasing all by himself without knowing what is going on would be very scary, that would definitely make it difficult to have a relationship with someone who can't know what is going on.
3. Do you think Jacob was wrong to show Edward the images of Bella while he was away from her?
I think so because Edward feels so bad already about leaving Bella that he shouldn't have to be reminded. Jacob is trying to hurt Edward which will hurt Bella even more, almost everything Jacob does hurts Bella.
4. Do Bella's actions towards Jacob (promising to come back when Edward is away, holding hands with him instead of letting him touch her face) say something different than what she intends them to say?
Yeah, her actions are leading Jacob on. She is just a little to close to him, that is probably why their relationship is so confusing and means differently to both of them. But, she does limit Jacob somewhat by not letting him touch her face. That would be too close and unconsiously she knows that it would mean a lot more to Jacob if she allowed him to do that.
5. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the wolves being able to see each others thoughts, even the most personal ones?
Like Jacob said it does help them meet up to plan and discuss important things, but it is definitely an annoyance. It is embarassing enough to have some thoughts in your own head, let alone nine other peoples also. By having your most intimate feelings laid out though others are able to sympathize a lot better and will know how to help you through problems in your life.
Staring into his eyes always made me feel extraordinary-- sort of like my bones were turning spongy. I was also a little lightheaded, but that could have been because I'd forgotten to keep breathing. Again.
