You know, it's a bit difficult to imagine. I never really thought Renée would be a big sci-fi person.
If anything, I recommend the Serenity series. Then Andromeda. Both were good TV series, but I liked the books better.
2. Did you catch on right away as to why Jacob was calling?
I was a bit confused at first, but after Jacob hung up on Bella, realization was like an icy fist clamping around my stomach. I knew then, right at about the same time as Bella that Jacob had been calling to check up on her...to make sure she was still human.
3. Were you surprised to learn of the altercation between Emmett and Paul? Who do you feel was at fault?
I really was.
I knew right off that without provocation, Emmett would never ever have any confrontation with the wolves. Carlisle, Esme and even Rosalie would have kept him in check. Because Paul has such a nasty temper, and because his hatred of the vampires is so strong, I'm pinning most of the blame on Paul. It seems perfectly likely that he instigated the confrontation, and by Jacob's story, (though he didn't come right out and say it) it sounds like that's what happened.
4. Compare Bella's relationship with Charlie in chapter 2 to her relationship with Renee in chapter 3.
She's definitely closer with her mother. It's evident because Renée doesn't need much explanation from her daughter to know what's running through her head. Bella might not be on the same level with her Mom, but Renée sure is intuitive. Charlie is a good man, but he's definitely more clueless about Bella's life than he thinks.
5. Come up with a plane crash scenario for Edward to try and think his way out of.
(*grins evilly*)
Both pilots are knocked out, one of them passed out from hitting his head against the control board when he tripped coming back from the bathroom. The other one, well, he had too much Bacardi before the flight.
The plane collided with another plane in the same vector heading in for a landing, so a large chunk and one of the engines on the right wing have been completely blown off.
The plane is spinning diagonally down at a a speed of well over seven hundred miles an hour at a 65° angle.
Right over the dead center of the Caribbean sea.
All the passengers are either passed out or dead from the impact and there aren't any life vests aboard.
Boy does that sound like a party?

Wait...why is the plane crashing again??
