I completely agree with you. I love how stephenie has developed the characters in the Twilight Saga, but I am really courious to see how character development will happen in this type of book. There will certainly be a place on my shelf for The Host next to the the Twilight Saga.

I am a total sci-fi fan and i can only guess how she will spin this off to make it interesting to both non sci-fi and sci-fi fans alike. there is nothing that is better than a little bit of romance mingled with the thoughts of the supernatural that only sit in the back of many of our heads.

I am dying to read the book now. Are spoilers from that chapter allowed here? Just in case...

*SPOILER* Highlight to read!
I am fascinated by them. The conversation in the prologue made me believe that adults aren't normally used for the insertion surgery. It also raised numerous questions. If adults aren't normally used (because of the awe of the students of seeing a soul inserted into Melanie--unless all that shock was for Wanderer alone), what happens to them? Because of the shock of senses and memories, I believe they probably chose infants or children.

Then there's Ford's Deeps Water. Why would he be so distraught? His assistant was another. Why would he keep his host's name when the others generally did not?

And Melanie's hurt body, what could have hurt her so? Did she try to fight off the colonists? Escape from them and suffer an accident?
*END SPOILER*

I need this book now.

I read the excert from the Host and it seems to be really good. In the few pages I got to read I was already hooked I really will have to get it when it comes out! Also I think that it falls into the Sicfi catagory about like Twilight in the fact that it belongs teir because of what it is about but it really is not geared for those reader it more of a romance in the end but I don't know for sure.
