According to a Publishers Weekly article last week, THE HOST has been contracted by Little, Brown and is scheduled for publication by their adult publishing division in Spring 2008. There isn't much more info available (that I've seen), but here's the PW link if anyone is interested.

I'm not really one for Sci-Fi books, but it says on Steph's site that it's more of a love story, so I can't wait to read it :)

I know what you mean. It's not really my genre either, but given that Stephenie wrote it I'll try it.

I'm so excited for this. I love me some good sci-fi books, and then the fact that Stephenie's writing it makes it like 43240923 times cooler. So it's definitely getting published then?

It's been contracted? That's awesome! :D From the summary on Stephenie's site, The Host sounds like it's going to be really good...

YAYAYAYAYAY!

Sci-Fi isn't generally my genre either but, come to think of it, vampires aren't either... so, yeah. I bet it's going to be fabulous.

From what I understand, and Stephenie would of course be better at the details than me, the book will be published via Little Brown but not out of their YA division. It would be published out of their adult divison because I believe all the main characters are in their late 20's or older.

I beleive this was only just recently finalized so that the book has to go through editing, cover concepts, the works. So I don;t know about a release date.

Also, unless I understoood wrong, the book is a one shot not a series book.
