If a vampire bit a soul's host...

Post by bronzehairedgirl »

In the "Host Questions for Stephenie" thread Kizmet asked, "What would happen if a vampire bit a soul's host?" This question led to a discussion within that thread so I felt it deserved a thread of its own.

So what do you think? Is it even possible? How would it affect the soul? Would the soul be able to change the vampire's natural behaviors and instints?

Biting as in to eat/drink or to infect/change??

I think that if they were just to eat/drink they would be able to succeed because they still can only do what humans are limited by. They don't have ssuperhuman powers/strength/w.e. They would die in the body that dies from lack of blood. Unless the body is found and the soul is removed. The body still needs to live in order for the soul to be inserted.

If they bit them to change them, i think that the body would turn into a vampire, but the soul wouldn't because well i think it's impossible to change something that doesnt have the same type of blood. The human body will still have human blood wich will turn into venom, making their BODIES become vampires, but the souls themselves are just going to be souls. It's like Wanda trying to fight against Mel's body's lust/love for Jared.
"Not to bring on the ire prematurely," he whispered, "but do you mind telling me what it is about this bed that you object to?"......."That's debateable," he disagreed. "This would be difficult on a couch."

I think that there is just one answer here [thats all I have thought of really]

Like if the Host was bitten with a sould inside. I think the soul would adapt as a human would. Like Normal.

I was thinking about trying to insert or remove a soul from a vampire, but I realized it wouldnt work for numerous reasons. Aside from their granite skin [because they proabably have some knife that could penetrate it], they would be almost uncatchable & they couldnt like knock them out or anything. It would be impossible.

if the host was just bitten then it would turn into a vampire but the soul wouldn't. Of course they would feel the effects and start to act like a vampire because they need the blood and they adapt to the hosts needs and in this case it would be blood. They could use all of the powers of a vampire too. Of course souls coudn't do anything like biting into another host for blood so i think they would try to fight off the thirst for a long time until they couldn't take it anymore. well, that's my theory.

^^Just because the soul is in a human doesnt make the soul human. Vampire is a physical trait, so a soul couldnt take it.

It just sounded weird when you made that comparison.

I agree, if a vampire bit a "souled" human, it would affect the body but not the soul. However, the soul would be forever trapped in the transformed body until the body was destroyed.

If a vampire drank from a "souled" human, the soul would die with the body once the body was drained. Unless there was a healer standing around to rescue the soul - but with a thirsty vampire around, I highly doubt it.

but the thing is is that whenever a host's body needed something like food or water the sould felt like they needed it too....so wouldn't that be the same for blood

I think that the host would take on the physical characteristics of a vampire and the physical needs. Do Stephenie's vampires physically need blood to survive or is it just an unbearable lust for it? I guess that would determine whether or not the vampire/host/soul would need to 'eat' people.

Do you think that a vampire could 'infect' a soul? They do have something like blood... If so, what would the soul's resulting symptoms be?

I find mixing these two worlds to be quite amusing!

But think about the soul as the mind of the host. Whatever the body needs/wants, the soul does. Its like that with humans. Like when we get hungry, our mind tells us we're hungry. So yes, it would be the same for Blood.

I think the host would turn into a vampire, but the soul wouldn't. I think the soul would fight it as much as it could, because the vampire instincts are against everything the souls stand for. They are peaceful creatures, vampires generally are not. They must use violence and kill to survive. I think it would be an incredible battle of wills.
