Surely if this were taking place the the National Council of English teachers would be up in arms, and that's just for starters. Unless, Stephenie performed some sort of hypnotic spell when she spoke to them in November 2006 as their invited guest, I believe that you have little to fear.

Honestly, who cares if it does replace Romeo and Juliet? I think that Romeo and Juliet is nothing compared to the story of Twilight. I would even go as far as to say that Stephenie Meyer's book is far more orginal than any play written by Mr.Billy Shakespeare. Because as I'm sure you all know (or not) Shakespeare was a flaming plagiarist and stole many of his plots and ideas from other writers.

But besides the fact that I think Shakespeare was a crap writer...

I find it astounding (and annoying) that our society is so stuck in the past that the talking heads of today refuse to recognise that maybe, just maybe, a recent piece of literature might possibly be better than literature written hundreds of years ago.

Question about something in Manifesto

Post by Cullenista »

Okay, this is my first post here, and I'd like to address something I just read in the Manifesto. It says: "' they don't give each other enough credit until the end of Eclipse. We hope this newfound truce continues, although we admit it is very painful for Jacob given his feelings for Bella."

While I admit, yes, Jacob is in pain, so is Edward, but that is not mentioned here. Bella chose him, but he knows that she kissed Jacob back, and that she also loves Jacob. That knowledge must be extremely painful for Edward. Just because Bella is going to marry him doesn't erase that knowledge or pain, and I will be surprised if Stephenie doesn't address it in Breaking Dawn. What man likes to know his fiancée loves another man? Especially one that is his mortal enemy?

So if you are going to acknowledge Jacob's pain, what about considering acknowledging Edward's, or removing the line about Jacob? It doesn't seem entirely fair to point out one without the other. Perhaps I'm misreading something; if so, I would welcome enlightenment.

Ehh...I definitely don't think I'd say Shakespeare is a 'crap writer'...

If it wasn't for him, I don't think we'd have the same kind of literature we have today. Certainly, New Moon wouldn't be the same.

Anywho, I too would also like to thank the mods and staff for the incredible job they do. Twilight Fandom wouldn't be the same without you! :D

Regulating Site

Post by TwilightT »

Dear Admins,
I truly appreciate your protocol in regulating this site, and the information you provide for us. The standards you have set make Twilight Lexicon my favorite forum. We all have at least one commonality here on Lex; we love and share an appreciation of the literary talent of Stephenie Meyer. Thank you for being sensitive and caring. You make this a worth while stop in the Net. :D :D :D :D
Sincerely,
TwilightT
