Unused Book Scenes/Details

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

Like what the rest of you think, I can't figure out which scenes may be cut! I just love every part of the book haha. But of course, that isn't possible. Let's just hope that they don't miss out any important details. (Long-term too, for New Moon and Eclipse films :P)

Also, we can only be sure about which scenes are included after the whole editing process ends. Because even if they already shot a certain scene, they can still decide (during post-production) not to put it on the final movie.

I agree that Port Angeles scene needs to be in their, maybe the can change it up a bit. We don't need so much shopping, but I think the part with the guys following her is very suspenseful. Maybe they could also get rid of when they are eating together and just mush all the important conversation into the drive home or visa verca.

The prom I could do without. And maybe the first hospital scene after the crash, thought I'd like to see it, I won't be disappointed if it not in there. And then there are a lot of little things, I don't need to see her emailing her mom, and things of that nature.

I wonder if the part of Edward going to Alaska will be in the movie. In the book it wasn't necessary to know much about that, but in the movie it might be helpful to learn more about Edward. I don't think it's completely necessary to be in the movie but I also think it would be good to have in it.

Do you think they will have the beach scene? Because that really gets to Bella with her dreams, and it starts her on Vampires. I would think probably not, but something else might happen to start her thinking about Vampires. I can just see a scene where she's on her computer looking up all this stuff about Vampires and looking at pictures or something and getting freaked out and Charlie walks in and she jumps in her seat because she was surprised, and then she figures it out.

Apparently they are going to be flying over tree tops? I bet she will tell him she knows what he is around that time He is stunned she knows, but then shows her but flying with her?

Mandie wrote:The thing about Port Angeles is that... it's a repetitive scene. I really don't think there's any reason for it to be in the movie. In the book, it works great. But in the movie, it may seem redundant. Here's why. The whole point of the Port Angeles scene (prior to the restaurant) is that Edward saves Bella from imminent danger. Well, he's already done that with Tyler's van. There's no need to show it again. Second, regarding where Bella walks down the street toward potential bad guys, it's technically something that's happening TO her from an outside source. Yes, I know Bella makes the decision to walk toward them, but the conflict and tension created in that scene doesn't come from the rest of the well-known characters. Those bad guys are never seen again. I think on screen, they can create more tension if the tensions that occur are a result of the Cullens and their interactions with Bella.

Now, moving on to the part of Port Angeles you all like, when Bella guesses Edward's secret. Again, it's not necessary. But first, let me point out, that dialogue/conversations can be picked up and moved to other spots of the movie. You can re-set scenes easily. So just because they aren't filming Port Angeles, doesn't mean that this particular conversation won't occur as part of a different scene. But from a screen-writing perspective, I think the dialogue is much too long to appear on-screen, but more importantly, nothing is happening. No actions. They are sitting in a car. They are sitting in a restaurant. I think it makes much more sense for Edward to SHOW us (us being the audience and Bella) he's a vampire in the meadow (which Kristen's MTV interview leads me to believe might be the case) then for Bella to go through all those guesses and finally get it right. If those guesses do happen, I'm sure it occurs in a much more condensed version and in a different spot, perhaps even after Edward shows his vampire abilities.

That's my thoughts on what could be lost.

And while I'm here, I doubt they'll show Edward sleeping in Bella's room more than one time. Those parts of the book are awesome, but I think that would end up being really slow on screen.

Also, before anyone kills me for this post, I think the blood typing chapter isn't really necessary either and falls under the category of Edward-saving-Bella = repetitive on screen. Yes, I know he doesn't really save her there and this is a clue to his "aversion" to blood, but I think there are shorter ways to get the fact that Edward can't be near blood across without spending so much screen time on it. I am thinking the Edward/Bella resulting interaction could still be in the movie, but not the catalyst that causes it.
I understand what you're saying about Port Angeles, but I'd really rather if it was in the film. I think Port Angeles is a really good scene, even though it may be repetitive. And if they do make New Moon, the scene can work well in NM. The bloodtyping scene, I agree with you, it's not really necessary. But it'd be nice if they have the scene before that (when he winks at her I think and she comes to sit with) put on film.

I rather have Port Angeles than any of the other scenes in the book with Edward "saving" Bella. It's just so swoon-worthy.
Breaking Dawn = EPIC FAIL.

You know I think that they would have something to do with the Port Angeles scene, at least the car ride on the way back. They need to get it right in the movie on how Bella reveals to Edward that she does know his secret. If not that would make me a bit upset, but hey, life goes on....
