Non-bookbased scenes

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

If they just had Bella go to the hospital like in the book, they wouldnt have to add a field trip scene...
Actually I think there might still be a hospital scene, it's in the side scripts anyway...

If you read the Lexicon interview with Melissa Rosenburg (the writer of the script) she briefly mentions that one of the scenes she enjoyed writing was a certain hospital scene after the accident. Or something like that. *goes to reread*

Hey, wouldn't it be really sweet if they added "flashbacks" to the movie? Like when Carlisle tells his story and when Jacob talks about the legends? Do you think they would do that? I think that would make the movie totally AWESOME.

I think it would be.. it would just give us the visual from book on the screen. But either way those scenes should be interesting.

i was just thinking about it today, when i woke up! hahaha. because it'd be boring to just look at say, Jacob's face when he tells about the legends to Bella. and then back and forth between their faces to see their expressions. if that's the case, viewers would be distracted and they wouldn't grasp the story, which is very essential to know!

I agree with the flashbacks. I feel like they might do that. It definitely would be interesting to see. It'd also give us more insight to the stories you know? Ever since I started diving into the Twilight universe and becoming quite the follower of the movie I've imagined they will include flashbacks for certain things. It just feels necessary, but that is my opinion.

I don't think non-bookbased scenes are a big problem. I don't think a movie would work if it was 100% Twilight the book. It wouldn't flow as well in my opinion. Plus if we didn't have non-bookbased scenes we wouldn't have been able to laugh over the "google" line. :D

Oh and just because they talk about Edward saving Bella during a field trip still doesn't mean she didn't try to confront him at the hospital. Remember, when they were at the hospital Edward didn't really give much of an answer in the book. In fact he was irritated . . . But I have to admit I doubt there's going to be much of that part of the hospital scene. It might not flow well with the fact that they do talk about it during a field trip.

I'm going to take a wild guess and predict that if the movie is not going follow the book exactly, then some of the scenes in the movie may end up being from other characters' perspectives than Bella's. For instance; the scene in the teaser trailer when Emmett is telling Edward that "...she's not one of us..."

Obviously that isn't in the books. Perhaps they felt the movie shouldn't be in first person narrative, just like the books??? Maybe the script writers decided (with Stephenie's Ok, I hope) to take Edward's side of the story into account as well, as they can't exactly make a second film just from his POV. So we possibly have the advantage of seeing both Edward's and Bella's stories? What do you think?

I know only of the field trip scene so far tha isn't in the book.
But i wonder if they are going have scenes that are more intense than the book intened them to be. Like I was looking at my avatar and they don't kiss like that in the first book.

But isn't your avatar just a scene from Into The Wild (Kristen) and then a scene from another movie with Rob in it?
