Non-bookbased scenes

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

i think that maybe they will. if you have seen "Speak" (a kristen stewart film - really good) then she narrates a LOT of that movie. you can watch it on YouTube.

It's not going to be exactly like the book, and as stated many times, the reason for that is mainly because it's from Bella's perspective. I love the book, but I don't want to watch it all from her perspective.

As for putting some scenes somewhere else, honestly, is it that big of a deal? Are you going to despise the movie because Edward says "Seventeen" in the forest and not the car?

I'm sorry if that comes across as rude; it's not meant that way.

I completely agree with what you are saying or what everyone else is saying for that matter.. I completely understand that the movie is going to be different from the book. I just dont understand why it has to be SO different...

To have Edward and Bella end up in some random forest to say the line of being seventeen is going to change some things that happen to get them there. If they stuck with him saying it in the car, then they wouldnt have to change anything...If they just had Bella go to the hospital like in the book, they wouldnt have to add a field trip scene... And if Alice is the one to rip James head off that is dumb because it's suppost to be Edward. Also, Alice is with Edward and Carlisle trying to fix Bella up, not running around... If Im not mistaken, I think she is the first one to say that Edward should be the one to suck out the venom...

But again lol, I understand that the movie is going to be different then the book... Apparantly the book got the okay from SM because it is going to air on December 12th, which I cant wait to see :]] I just wish it was more truthful lol...

you have to have non book based scenes otherwise the entire movie becomes all bellas movie
there has to be things from the cullens perpective to get variation and a better view of the events in the movie
well for those who aren't diehard fans and know the book cover to cover

but the greenhouse scene isnt that bad. ive accepted the fact that not everything we see will be straight copied from the book

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but I have talked about with my friends who are also obsessed with the series....

In one of the clips, Emmett is talking to Edward about Bella, saying, "This is wrong, Edward. She's not one of us." This is not in the book, but with the background and the fact that it is just the two of them, one assumes that it is when they go hunting the weekend that Bella is at First Beach.

Nothing from Emmett and Edward's trip is in the book, because the story follows Bella since it is told from her perspective. This raised the questions of: is Bella's weekend also going to be in the movie, because if not then they are missing an essential peice of the story, and is the movie going to follow Edward even when he is away from Bella, such as when he is hunting or when he's in Alaska, even though that's not in the book?

Just a few thoughts...I apologize if anyone else has brought this up before!

Oh good point. It could be while they are hunting. I do still think they will show her weekend at the beach though. That is a very crucial part of the movie.

They will. :D

But again, books and movies are completely different for a reason. There are things in the book that wouldn't work for a movie. Just because they aren't doing it EXACTLY like the book doesn't mean they're screwing the movie. You have to wait to see the final product.

Love-At-First-Bite wrote:I agree. There is a huge difference between books and movies -- not every little detail is going to be accurate, and not every single scene from the book is going to be put in a two-hour movie. That's the reality.

The benefits of Twilight being made into a movie includes us being able to see more of what we couldn't through Bella's perspective. I don't know about you, but I don't want to see a movie with Bella narrating the entire thing, it would be way too predictable. It's also a way for us to enjoy the movie. Wouldn't it be boring if it were the exact same thing? A movie is not supposed to be like that, otherwise the movie is going to be BAD and it's not going to make a lot of money in the box office.

Like the producer said, they try to closely base the movie to the book, but at the same thing they also have a seperate responsibility to make the best movie they can make. I trust them with what they are doing, they're called professionals for a reason. From what I've seen, it looks like they're doing a fantastic job. We can't be so quick to judge from what we've seen so far because the movie hasn't even been released yet!

This is exactly the reason why I think they give away too much about the movie. People are going to get confused.

In other words, just wait until you see the movie! Then everything will make more sense!

Rant over.
I completely agree. The movie will give us a wee bit more insight into the book. And besides, it's not TWILIGHT: The Book: The Movie. It's just a movie BASED on the the book.

It's kind of nescessary to add scenes. Without Bella's naration, It's going to be harder to move on as easy in the book. They can't possibly convey all of Bella's thoughts through actions. So, they add scenes to help transition.
