Edi Gathegi as Laurent

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

I love Edi :D. He seems like a great guy.

LoL yeah that was funny about the olives .He sounds like a really funny funny guy , Glad he can be part of the cast.
"Breakfast time," he said eventually, casually...
So I clutched my throat with both hands and stared at him with wide eyes.
Shock crossed his face.
"Kidding!" I snickered. "And you said I couldn't act!" -Isabella & Edward

I have a problem wrapping my mind around Edi as Laurent, simply because ever since Stephenie made the suggestion for John Stamos in the part, that's the only face I could see! Plus, her description of him, with olive skin and black hair...well, there ARE many different colors of olive, I reckon. :D

Where is this interview y'all keep talking about? I've been through the whole thread and can't find a link to it.

Very cool, but - how the hell will they make him pale?!
:?: :!: :?:

i just read both interviews and although i had already thought that Edi makes a very good Laurent, i can just say that this interviews are even more convincing. He's really funny and he sounds like a really great actor. I haven't seen him act but he seems like he really takes the role seriously and wants to portray this character the best he can. "Black Olives Anyone?" That was just so funny.
"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb...," he murmured.
"What a stupid lamb," I sighed.
"What a sick, masochistic lion."

Well, as you can see by my new icon and banner set, I'm an Edi-as-Laurent convert. :D I will now go and purge ole watzisname out of my memory banks now. :D

LOVED the interview. Edi seems very real, very approachable, and someone I'd like to know as a person. And I'm sooo glad he loves Stephenie's world.

He's my lil' black olive. :D

I am pleasantly surprised with a black man as Laurant. no convincing needed here... I mean yeah, in the book he's described as having olive skin and black hair... so I kind of thought Laurant would be of Italian descent when he was alive... Jon Stamos worked, BUT he just looks like he could pull off a "bad guy" vampire role.

And congrats to Edi, for my landing the role of 2nd least favorite character, lol.
Yours,
Jenna

I'm really happy with the diverse casting. I was hoping that everyone wouldn't just be white.

But it's funny, in a car ride my friend and I were talking about what black vampires would look like since the vampires get paler. Would they just be a lighter shade of brown or would they be albino like the Da Vinci Code guy in Epic Movie? The irony is, when I got home and checked the Lexicon, lo an behold Laurent was being portrayed by a black actor!
