Edi Gathegi as Laurent

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

I loved the interview! And the "black olives" comment was brilliant!

I found a site about Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges, where we can hear some samples of his music:

From now on he is Laurent for me. :D

"We all pictured him as white"what sort of statement is that? i'm sure some people did but why make a general statement? with the discription i pictured laurent as an Arab to be honest, and since plenty of Arabs live in France or speak French. Perhaps you picture the characters are white, but i've never pictured the whole cast as entirely caucasian.

I'm going to have to toss another one in for the "black olive" comment. That rocked. Seriously. It's good to see he has a sense of humor about things too.

Ok so, here's the low down on the black olive statement. I didn't not ask him that in the initial Q&A. When I thanked him for the interview I said, "If there is anything we can do for you you, please let me know." He replied by telling me that he wanted to respond to the many blog posts and messages he had read concerning his race. At that moment I was quite literally embarrassed to be a member of this fandom. That this man, this intelligent, witty, talented, kind man would have to endure such idiocy from the fandom at large (the fandom I call my own) was embarrassing. And to not only be kind enough to want to calm the waters, but to do so without being prompted, and with such a tender light air.

I find him to be a truely amazing human being.

Wow. If I could hug Edi, I totally would. He shouldn't have to endure prejudice or racism or any kind of crap from the "fans". Fans should be appreciative and welcoming...at least, in my eyes they should. Edi is so dedicated, and seems to have such a connection with the character already...He definitely deserves a BIG giant group hug from the lot of us. Wish we could give him one.

Ugh, and all of these haters are seriously getting on my nerves. Everyone just needs to shut up with the smack-talking and whining. Seriously...It's not helping anything.

That is how i pictured Laurent , I think he is perfect for the role and kind of see him speaking with a french accent.
"Breakfast time," he said eventually, casually...
So I clutched my throat with both hands and stared at him with wide eyes.
Shock crossed his face.
"Kidding!" I snickered. "And you said I couldn't act!" -Isabella & Edward

i read the interview with edi, and he seems like a great actor and person. i loved when he said that laurent was described as olive skinned and how he black olived skinned or something close to that. after reading the interview, i became really confident in edi as laurent.
