Justin Chon as Eric Yorkie

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

I'll admit, I never pictured Eric as Asian but I think he's growing on me.

I think he's awesome, but not for Eric.
But who cares? I'm just glad I'll be seeing him in the movie.
Teehee!

The other day, my brother was flipping the channel when I was walking by his room, then all of a sudden he stopped at Disney Channel and there I see Eric York--I mean, Justin Chon from that one movie! Hahaha. I think the movie was the Wendy Wu:Homecoming Warrior one? Hahahah. I was just like, 'Omg, look, it's Eric Yorkie!' Puaha. [x

Yea I didn't really see him as Asian either but it's alrite.

Funny how the only asian in the whole movie is supposed to be a chess-club member with sleek(greasy?) black hair.

I wasn't really expecting him to be asian. I hadn't actually noticed he had black hair in the book. I pictured him blonde  . The only problem I have with him is that he's too good looking for that part... I didn't think Eric was supposed to be handsome.

I know, a very strange complaint... sigh. At least he looks like he could pull Eric off... though it will take a change in perspective for me...

Does it bother anyone else that the casting saw "black-haired and nerdy" and went "Asian!"? I'm sure he'll be great for the role and it's nice to have movies with diversity that (hopefully) won't all act stereotypically, but that conclusion kind of bothers me.

What I find offensive is that you assume he got the role based upon his race and not his ability. He is a wonderful guy and a great actor who was drawn to this film because Catherine Hardwicke was directing it. He plays his part extremely well and has some amazing insights into the character of Eric. You can read the interview I had with him here:

I think it will clear up any misconceptions you may have about his casting in the role.

Exactly what I said! But anyway he is a great actor and he seems to know his character and the movie really well =] I'm sure he'll do fine. He even said he was one of the few Asians at the auditions =] Can't wait for the movie!

Omg, wasn't Justin in Just Jordan too? Hm, I don't remember, but he seems like a really sweet guy! I think he'd make a great Eric, and to think, he's going out with Angela here! I can't wait to see him & Christian's on-screen chemistry! :D
