Soundtrack to the movie ...

Discussion about the Twilight movie. It's all speculation until Summit Films actually produces a script and casts it.

Now I really want to see Into the Wild  I seen about half-way threw of the movie when I was on a plain to Florida, and the soundtrack had fantastic emotional melodies and a bit of modern folk-tunes that I really adore.

And Alex likes getting the music-styles from the characters and the scenes around them, so I can see some lovely folk/poetic singers and band, but with more of an teenage-edge with out bordering on cheesy or corny. The OC meets Grey's meets what I could tell, Into the Wild.
Ah, I'm reading to much into it, but Twilight has such great moments ware great musicians could be played in the backdrop.

The Story of the Impossible - Peter Von Pohel

Perfect perfect perfect and perfect, for Bella's escape to the Ballet studio. It's a song that kind of makes you stop in your tracks, haunting and beautiful almost chilling to listen. Honestly I got goosebumps to the first time listening to it. And the lyrics

Whatever happened to the great escape
And all the plans we make
Crafted with pride by Monsters on the train.
The world is great to suckers.

We have the story of the impossible
A tale passed on so frail
One of make-belief
Maybe impossible to achieve
And really close

Sleeping Beauty - The Rulling Class

Edward and Bella running threw the forest, that's all I can think of when it's playing on my iTunes. Take note, the song doesn't really start around the 50 second mark, but still listen threw the whole thing. How "Sleeping Beauty" sounds is memorable, the song isn't fast paste as you would expect for a vampire running but at the same time how the instrumentals work, it goes by quick. The Rulling Class really does know who to make a song bold, but gorgeous.

We've Got Obsessions - Marina & The Diamonds

I recommend listening to this, it's practically saying "Grey's Soundtrack, ASAP". I love how she doesn't make the song sound so cliche or corny, it's just wonderful. Either Bella's and Edwards first 'date' (obsessions, creep, curiosity) or when all the Cullen's are in the car when the vamp-hunter is tracking Bella. Edward is being his usual protective-self saying no to Emmet's plans. And again 'obsessions, creep, curiosity'. You'll know what I mean you give the song a listen.

Everyone You Know - Now, Now Every Children

Well, Twilight is a must-have for a slow, slightly dreading goodbye moments, but it doesn't mean the song has to be dreadful enough to plug your ears. A glitzy, yet down to earth song with a voice of a high-strung teenager with the repetitive lyrics of "Go if you want to". Seems to fit the moment eh?

Let My Burden Be - Golden Shoulders

Forks, small-town charm song + Bella's first day at her new school. Her entrance is big for gossip but Bella isn't exactly happy to be there, but doesn't try to show it. Golden Shoulders makes that classic rock sound, but with out extracting guitars or voice; plus "let my burden be broken" reminds me of a certain someone.

LOVE MATES OF STATE
I think they're music is good for something fun, like maybe Bella driving or Bella's first day?

*maybe FUN isn't the right word  .. you know what I mean though, right?
I'd love Mates of State too, I think I said Proofs a few pages back. I love that song.

I would also absolutely positively LOVE IT if they put Stars<3 on the soundtrack. Most of their songs remind me of the Twilight series...
I especially love how it's a guy and a girl singing

I just think that this is a perfect song for the movie.

The Reason lyrics

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with everyday
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
Thats why i need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is You [x4]

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you
"Would you like me to put you to sleep?" -Edward Cullen

I see a lot of mentions of Vanessa Carlton's "Twilight", which is understandable. However, Antony and the Johnsons also have a song called "Twilight" and I skimmed through the 61 pgs of this thread and I don't think it's been mentioned at all, which makes me a little sad. The song is gorgeous. The lyrics are very Bella/Edward to me too ("I sit at all tables, with my candles and angels besides and I shall wait forever. As the day turns to night...")
Antony and the Johnsons - Twilight (sorry about the low quality vid, it's the only one I could find on YT)

Twilight
I fall in the harbor
Twilight
I fall in the hills
But here in the city
That never sleeps
I can fall
Through one's fingers

When the swan
Flies to heaven
Soaring through
The utmost fear
There's a feeling
That lingers in the afterwards
Will you ever return
Will you ever return
Will you ever return

Twilight
Twilight
Twilight

Twilight
I sit at all tables
With my candles
And angels besides
And I shall wait forever
As the day turns to night

Swallowed in the shadows that glow
Swallowed in the shadows that glow
Swallowed in the shadows that glow

When I sought out a light
And I knew darkness swallowed
I beseech, come to me
All alone, come to me

Twilight
This next one is a little dated, but I could see a cover of it from some newer artist for the soundtrack. Maybe Brandi Carlile, A Fine Frenzy or someone like that. The lyrics also remind me strongly of Bella/Edward, the whole song sounds like it could be from Bella's POV. I could see the song fit TWI, but with that "Nothing fills the blackness that has seeped into my chest" lyric makes it sound better for NM. Could work for either story I suppose.
Melissa Etheridge - Come to My Window

[CHORUS]

Come to my window
Crawl inside, wait by the light
of the moon
Come to my window
I'll be home soon

I would dial the numbers
Just to listen to your breath
I would stand inside my hell
And hold the hand of death
You don't know how far I'd go
To ease this precious ache
You don't know how much I'd give
Or how much I can take

Just to reach you
Just to reach you
Just to reach you

[CHORUS]

Keeping my eyes open
I cannot afford to sleep
Giving away promises
I know that I can't keep
Nothing fills the blackness
That has seeped into my chest
I need you in my blood
I am forsaking all the rest
Just to reach you
Just to reach you
Oh to reach you

[CHORUS]

I don't care what they think
I don't care what they say
What do they know about this
love anyway

[CHORUS]

Well, if it's anything like Gossip Girl...

I reckon there will be a whole lot of Rihanna and Mgmt thrown in.

I was bored
Rough version of my soundtrack.

1. MGMT - Time To Pretend
Bella leaving airport, driving with Charlie. This song sets the tone, it just sounds like an opening song.

OR

Republic Tigers - Made Concrete
Once again, sets tone and all. A little less 'dated' TV wise like Buildings and Mountains, but still wonderful :D

OR

Matt Costa - Cold December
Gosh, that acoustic is enough to get you intruiged.

2. Elliott Smith - Say Yes
Bella looking at pictures on Charlie's mantle, getting settled in house, unpacking. Stuff like that.

3. Ra Ra Riot - Dying Is Fine
First day. It sounds kind of hopeless, and Oh gosh, can this day just end?-ish. Super-catchy.

4. The Wilshires - Shine
First sight of the Cullens. Lyrics fit.

5. Eagle*Seagull - I'm Sorry But I'm Really Beginning To Hate Your Face
Hospital! Hehe, this soung has a lot of frustration built up, but not in a AHH I'M FRUSTRATED SO I'M going to SCREAM WAY, more in a Hey, you piss me off, tell me the truth kind of frustrated way.

6. Stars - Look Up
La Bella Italia

7. The LK - Stop Being Perfect
Car ride home from Port Angeles, or 20 questions the next day. Like neonsx said, it's very reminisent of B + E's early relationship.

8. The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way
Beach. Aw, you love 'em too! Fun, fun fun.

9. Phantom Planet - Do The Panic!
Walk to meadow. Lightweight, fun, kind of cheesy.

10. Tom Petty - Wildflowers
Absolute beauty, it's impossible to hate the world when you listen to this.

11. Apples In Stereo - Benefits of Lying (With A Friend)
Car ride home

12. The Teenagers - Feeling Better
Bella first seeing the meadow. This song is so full of life, and fun. It's very cheery, and perfect for the meadow.

13. Jack Johnson - Constellations
Sleepover.

14. The Feverfew - Goodbye Blue Monday
Morning after. Aw, it's SO pretty, must-listen.

15. Wilco - Thirteen
Drive to Cullens/Cullen's house

16. Vampire Weekend - Walcott
Baseball game. Okay, this song is about vampires and it's fun and it has a really dramatic ending perfect for the arrival of James, Laurent, and Victoria..

17. The beginning of Coldplay's 24
For Bella leaving to Pheonix with Alice and Jasper. Wow, the first minute or so of this song is so moving and depressing. Just like this part of the movie.

18. The Fashion - Solo Impala
Bella going to dance studio.

19. Air - Photograph
Ballet studio. This song is so creepy, and haunting, and it's gorgeous. The lyrics are perfect for the 'Angel' scene:
  • God would like to own your autograph
The angels cry to have your photograph

As if you were all sweetness and light
As fortune favours fools by candle light

God would like to own your autograph
The angels fight over your photograph
Put your record on the phonograph
Look at your position on the map
20. Yo La Tengo - My Little Corner of The World
Perfect cooldown from drama of previous scene. So cute, fades into background easily, which is important, because the hospital scene is crucial.

21. Lykke Li - I'm Good, I'm Gone
Prom, when Bella and Edward first arrive.

22. Deep Dish - In Love With A Friend
Oh, my god, most PERFECT song ever for Jacob and Bella's dance. Wow, lyrics are insanely, creepily perfect, and the song is exactly the type of tune for the moment.

23. Sequoyah Prep School - About Rain
Outside, on bench. Just listen, it's kind of Sufjan Stevens meets Spill Canvas, and as you can tell from the title, totally goes with the story.

24. Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me
Credits. Leaves you with a good feeling.[/list]

CLEARLY, all of these songs are not going to be played, just some suggestions, and my take on the soundtrack

Gotta add, The Kooks' cover of Young Folks needs a spot.
