1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?
I didn't know what it was, but I didn't think too much on it. Hikers tell stories all the time, why should this one hold any significance?

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?
I was shocked, but in hindsight I can see why he didn't. Bella was so antisocial, it'd be like trying to get a rock to do a backflip.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?
I thought it was funny. Bella + Motorcycle = Catastrophe.

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?
I remember thinking. "Ehh... It's just Jacob." I was hoping, at the time, that he wouldn't, and was mad when he did. But now I'm glad he is, and I do like him. :) If that makes any sense. o.o

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?
No, I wanted her to stay. Though it must hurt to be constantly reminded of Edward, it's better than forgetting his existance completely. (Besides, if she had left, they never would have been able to come back to her!)

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?
I didn't really hold an impression of Billy, I just thought of him as another character, nothing more. I held a little resentment against him for being so Anti-Cullen, though. ;)

1) I really didn't think too much of it at the time. I was too absorbed in Bella's grief!

2) I thought it was really telling of just how far gone she had been, that even Golden Retriever Mike had given up.

3) Brilliant! I was desperate for her to nearly kill herself. I assumed Alice would see and Edward would come back!

4) I liked him already from Twilight, and I liked him even more in NM. I was grateful for his help in allowing Edwards "voice" to return, also!

5) I was not surprised. I wouldn't have wanted to leave, either. How else could she feel close to him?

6) I always liked Billy. He is a really sad character, and he tries to do right by everyone involved. So well written!

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?

I was confused, to start with. I couldn't understand how a bear could get that big. It kind of reminded me of Emmett, merely because bears were always his favorite choice. It was kind of wierd to me, because I didn't suspect that anything could have changed that much in the short time the Cullens had disappeared.

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?

I think Mike was just as shocked as everyone else at the lunch table. Bella had slipped into this "zombie" state and she took them all by surprise by jumping into the conversation. If anything, I thought that he had begun to lose his hope that he would be given a chance. That was why he wasn't so eager anymore, because he was probably wondering what had sparked the sudden change in Bella.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?

I laughed. I could totally see Bella doing something like that. It was her way of finding peace and a chance to really do something for herself for a change. She wanted to be reckless and to break her promise because she felt that Edward had already broken his. (When life gives you lemons, squirt them in everyone else's eyes.) XD
I thought that she wanted a chance to prove that she wasn't as fragile as Edward had always treated her. She was torn apart and altered on the inside, but that wasn't going to stop her from living...Even if it was on the edge.

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?

I saw him as the light you see at the end of a dark tunnel. Bella had isolated herself for so long from her friends at Forks High school, so when she decided to reconnect old ties with Jacob, it was almost like she was searching for something. When Jacob readily came to support her, Bella jumped at that opportunity. I saw him as the good friend who finally had come to the rescue. Bella was so far gone and I think at that point ready for anything to give her some clarity to life. Give her a ray of hope that despite how terrible things were at the time, she was very much still alive, and very much still capable of living. I thought that he would be the one to put the life back into her. He was her sun, after all.

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?

No, I wasn't surprised in the least. If anything I understood her reasoning. She was having to cope with her loss completely on her own. The best place to deal with something marginally unpleasent is in a safe, familiar place.
Home.
I thought too, that she was afraid being away from Forks, a place she's come to associate peace and security with. If she left to go to Jacksonville where its sunny and open, it would have made her feel almost vulnerable. Not the best combination when you're trying to get over losing a piece of yourself.

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?

A little, yes. Just because whenever we saw Billy in Twilight, he was always bringing that same warning: "stay away." But now, since the Cullens were gone, he seemed a bit more...empathetic but yet still smug after the departure of the "cold ones." Its a little hard to decipher, however. Billy didn't make all that much of an appearence in this chapter.

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?
I kind of assumed it would be something that would come up later on in the book, as I figured it wouldn't be of any importance otherwise. I didn't, however, think it would be as important as it turned out to be, no.

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?
I thought Mike was being a friend, and that he was trying to be sensitive towards Bella and her obvious pain over her 'break up' with Edward. I think so many people have the wrong ideas about him, as I don't think he's as heartless as some thing, since he didn't try and take total advantage of Bella when she was alone. I wasn't that surprised, when Mike didn't "make the most" of working alone with her, because I'm sure he realized how unresponsive she was, and knew better than to try anything at the current time.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?
I thought it was completely ridiculous. I still don't understand why she would want to hear his voice, if she believed he was never coming back and didn't love her. When she decided about the motorcycles, I wondered why she wanted to put herself through both mental and physical torture. Where's the logic?

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?
I liked him, I thought he was really sweet and really nice, and definitely sensitive to Bella's situation. I figured from the first book where he told Bella about the vampires, he would be important, so seeing him again just certified my original thoughts. I'm glad he became important, too. He's such a sweetie!

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?
I wasn't surprised, but I was annoyed. I don't know why you would want to stay around somewhere that reminded you of someone you love and had lost, when you thought they were coming back, and that they didn't feel the same. I figured she would stay, because Forks also had Jacob, but other than that, her reasons to leave just...annoy me.

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?
I definitely see him in the same way I see Charlie, just a protective father figure. I saw that in the first book, too. Also, knowing that he has incredible historical knowledge definitely made me not just overlook his warnings, and made me curious as to what else he knew, etc. In the first book, Billy was such a small part, I didn't have many feelings or thoughts towards him, but in New Moon, I definitely started to like him.

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?
I thought it would be important. But I didn't think it would be important enough.

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?
I was kind of surprised. Since Edward was gone, I thought he would try and get her.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?
I didn't think of it really. I thought "Oh great, Bella's going to get motorcycles"

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?
Yeah, I liked him. But I didn't like him as much in the end.

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?
No, I wasn't really surprised. I knew that she would stay because I knew that Edward would come back.

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?
No, my impression didn't change. I thought he would still be the same ol' Billy.

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?

At first I really didn't care. It wasn't a certain thing, and I definately saw it through bella (and mike's!) perspective, not caring much about the backpacker's stories. I just wanted them to leave the shop and get the heck out of there, goddamnit it, so the story would go on and edward would come back!

This makes me laugh now.. silly me!

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?

This was a surprising shred of decency from Mike. Yes, I was very surprised. Mike must not be as dense as he seems. He somehow noticed that Bella was not recovering well at all and was NOT going to be all over him! I can practically hear his idiotic, predictable thoughts running through my head now.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?

It made me laugh and worry at the same time. It's kind of those moments when you know someone you love is doing something bad, but they're having too much fun and you can't really stop them anyways.

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?

I adored Jacob as a 'mini-sun'... he was so, so, aww!! Perfect. And then he just mucked it up by trying his darndest to replace Edward, and that got me really.. mad, to understate. I dislike Jacob.

I also thought that Bella was using him, and that wasn't right. She was dependent on him to live her life, and that's really bad too! She was miserable without him, and it's not healing any better if your happiness depends on a single person that can't always be attatched at your hip.

In my subconscious, i realized that there was going to have to be a part where Jacob would become unavailible to do every darn thing for her... but i still hated him.

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?

I was not surprised by Bella's inability to leave forks.. but i didn't realize exactly why. Usually, you don't want to put space between a time where the guy loved you. It's extremely difficult to move on. And I would have never, EVER moved on from Edward, so i can see where that was coming from.

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?

I liked him a bit better in New Moon.. he wasn't being such a prat about Edward to Bella's face and putting pressure on them. He knew that bringing up the Cullens would hurt her, and i'm glad that he did what he did. Really sweet of him.

I LOVED hearing Jacob's opinion of his father.. i'm not sure why. It was endearing to me, somehow, to read the little parts about how Billy irritated him to death. That probably doesn't make any sense.. but I guess I related to that.

1. I really didn't pay much to the information at first. I never really thought it to be half as important as it actually was.

2. I half-expected for him to do something more. But he was fairly decent in this chapter, which made me happy.

3. I didn't know what I was going to do with Bella, knowing how accident prone she was. Bella+motorcycle=TROUBLE!

4. Jacob's cool. I was glad that he was doing all he could to help Bella and that he seemed to understand what she was going through.

5. I was not at all suprised at her complete reluctance to leave. I pretty much expected it. I expected her to live for others like she always did and move on just enough to survive.

6. He was okay. I'm still not sure what I think of him though.

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?
I kind of figured it wasnt a bear so knew it would be important ;)

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?
you know.. I really cant get into the "normal" characters..so dont really think about them...but I dont think it is surprising.. he had been around her these past months..he knew she wasnt over Edward

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?
heh....hehehe...

Bella + motorcycle= Very Bad Idea
Very Bad Idea= Growly Edward
Growly Edward=giggly happy fangirl

GO BELLA!! :D

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?
He was ok at first. and I was happy he helped her build the motorcycles but I cant say I have ever LIKED Jake. I am pretty good at figuring out what part, what direction, a character has in the story and I knew Jacob was...not Edward. I knew what he would become..and I didnt like it ;/

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?
no.. I think deep down she knew the truth (as she says later) and she KNEW he would come back and she wanted to be there

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?
Billy didnt do anything to change my original impression of him..(which wasnt a bad one)

1) This is the first mention we have of the huge black bear wandering around the forest of Forks. What was your first impression of this information? Did you think it would be as important as it turned out to be?
Well I knew that it had to be something more then just a "bear".

2) What did you think of Mike in this chapter and his behavior toward Bella? Were you surprised that he wasn't trying to 'make the most' of working alone with her?
Well I wasn't really surprised. He was actually ok in this chapter.

3) What did you think of Bella's motorcycle plan?
I knew that she was somehow going to get hurt on that!

4) When you first saw Jacob through Bella's eyes, what did you think? Did you like him? Did you think he would become as important to her as he did?
I personally like Jacob. He is pretty cool and nice to Bella. I actually thought he would become like Bella's boyfriend and they would kiss and all that. I wasn't happy with that idea...I'm glad it didn't turn out as how I suspected.

5) Were you surprised by Bella's complete reluctance to leave Forks or did you suspect it given Edward's minimally lingering presence? Why or why not?
No I wasn't surprised because she just wouldn't leave everything behind.

6) This is the first time we see Billy without Edward around or the threat of Edward looming. Did your impression of him change at all from Twilight? Why or why not?
My impression didn't really change. I'm still confused over him though..
