NO, I was not at all surprised. I sometimes feel sadder whem I read Chap 4 than 3 because of the pain that Bella felt. The hole, the way she needed to gold herself together. Wanting Not to think about him, yet never FORGET him. I sob no matter how many times I read this. I have felt this way myself. Felt like when you open your eyes and look up all you can see are the bottoms of other peoples shoes. Than, while I am crying for Bella, I think about Edward, and I cry for him.

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again?

NO Why or why not? Of course, charlie feels this way, he is so worried about his daughter, he will try anything to comfort her, but she needs to find her own ground, her own resilence.3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? Yes How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

Jess is so much the Gossip Girl, I don't think Bella ever had much of a relationship with her. iT IS JUST . FACADE OF A FRIENDSHIP. Angela might have been a better choice to talk to but I don't think Bella really wanted to talk, she just wanted to appease her Dad.4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head?

]Her wanting to hear him. What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?
Bella would have done anything to validate Edward. She needed to believe in hem and their love at any cost, she needed this to survive.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?

To be honest I was not at all surprised by her description of dullness, the haze or the complete detachment from the emotional/'content' world ( I wish I can explain this better, but I'm no Stepanie Meyer to encapsulate the feelings and everything perfectly in words, so forgive me if I make no sense.) and the feeling of wanting to have the 'haze'/numbness to feel protected. Knowing what she was going through truley made me realise how strong her love( the word love seems too shallow to describe what Bella and Edward share, but for lack of better word I'll say it) really is, I mean most people if put into Bella's shoe would have either let the ' black hole' suck them in by doing something 'reckless' without thinking of the effects it may have on others etc, but Bella even with this incredible pain, she pulled her self through the agony, for Charlie for Renee even though It would have been so much easier to have been 'reckless' in hopes of ending the pain. I truly started respecting her for her courage.
Oh and being the over-empathetic person I am , ( which i have always hated )everything was too real .

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or Why not?
From Charlies prespective I completly agree, honestly would a parent be able to be happy to see their kid go through grate pain,( especially someone like Bella who is trying to protect Charlie from hurting because of her)So I guess the only possible way he knew to free his only daughter from suffering is to send her to Renee in hope she will forget and go back to being the way it was before, even though it ment losing her again. From Bella's point, I also would disagree for exact same reasons Bella put forward.

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

I think Bella chose Jessica because of her Jessica's personality, shes the seems the typical teen ( sorry for seterotyping) with high school drams/issues and she loves to talk about herself more than to scrutinize her sarroundings.Because of this , it seemed logic enough, that Bella should be able to make Charlie stop worrying , while not really being whole again or 'normal'mself again. ( oh damn it, I cant explain this right  )
I think Jessica was a good choice, but I under-estimated her and so her reaction at the end was somewhat of surprise, but then again she was not the one who was walking the fineline of sanity and insanity LOL.
I really didn't think their was any depth to the friendship between Bella and Jessica right from day one when Bella met her at school. Jessica seemed shallow and a user, so to answer the question of how it impacted their relationship, I don't think it made that much of difference.

Sorry for the long response  but I just can't explain myself in a few sentence. By the way, does any one know what song Bella heard when she got into Jessica's car , that made her quickly change the radio station?

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?

I don't think that I was surprised. For Bella she really had lost a loved one. She knew that Edward kind of took things to the extreme and that he would never mean to cause her pain which was what he did. I think that her reaction is how I might have rected knowing that someone who loved me suddenly didn't want me anymore it would have a lasting effect. To be honest I am amazed that it was only four months. I understood Bella's pain and I just wanted that part to be over.

2.Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?

If I were Charlie I ould have wanted the same thing. He knew why she was deeply depreased and leaving a situation is some times best. On the hand you have to face the things that cause you pain so staying, however painful it may have been, might have been best.

3.Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

I think that Bella chose Jess because she knew that she wouldn't have to add a lot to the conversations. Jess is the type of person that just needs to think that someone is paying attention to her. She is more concerned with herself than those around her. If Bella would have gone with Angela, Angela would have known that something was still up because she is much more observant. I think that for what Bella was trying to accomplish Jess was a good choice. I do not think that it really impacted thier relationship. Jess was much closer to Lauren and would have agreed with her eventually anyway.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?

I'm not real sure what I thought. I Think in the begining i was kind of thinking that maybe Edward had stayed and had been watching Bella making sure that she was safe, but then i realized that he wouldn't have allowed her to go through that much pain and rejected that idea. My next thought was that she knew tht he would never actually leave in the back of her head (it is really hard to tear yourself away from someone you love like that trust me) and that it was her way of letting herself know that she could bring him back by being in the way of danger. I think that I was really just glad that she still had some connection to Edward though even if it might be in a really crazy way.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?

I wasn't suprised. I'm there. Where she was. Fourteen months and sixteen days today. I would have described what it feels like as more of a rubber band that squeeze's you heart together rather then a hole. But they're both accurate. It hurt to read. physically hurt. I'll never read it again.

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?

No. he could never understand but...you need to be where they were. See them there again in your head. That way they know your still there and that you waiting for them.

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

Jessica is too self-obsessed, she was a bad choice.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger

If it were me, if i could hear his voice when i was in danger, i'd be throwing my self into it. Tecnically, i guess its stupid. but id do it too. I did think it was his voice.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?
She had lost everything in her mind-she saw no joy in anything, only pain...anyone who lost someone knows what that is like

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?
I don't think it would have changed anything. I probably would have agreed with Charlie, and wanted her to try it at least. Being a parent myself, I can see how he would think a mother be able to help with a daughter that way.

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?
I think she choose Jessica because she knew that would be the easiest way, she wouldn't have to say much and Jessica wouldn't ask her too many hard questions. She probably made the right choice for that reason.
I do think that the night hurt their relationship greatly.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?I thought it was his voice. He did care for her-I never doubted that-and I felt that he would have said those things to her if he had been there. I didn't think she was crazy.
Her means of hearing him-that was a bit crazy....but in that same situation I probably would have done the same thing (to some degree at least)

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?
I'm empathetic, so I just moped around like her, that's why I mowed through this book in 1 day. xD

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?
I didn't agree because part of my head was thinking, "But edward! He's coming back because it would be stupid of Stephenie Meyer to not bring him back, so dammit, he is!"

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?
She chose Jess first because Jess was one of her first friends, I didn't think it was a good idea. It didn't work out because Bella wasn't ready yet, she had been pressured by charlie.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?
I didn't know what to think, I was just happy. I knew the novel couldn't stay edwardless for long, even if his name was a curse word for then. I was fine with Bella putting herself in danger, it made her happy because she was able to spend time with both Jacob and "Edward" at the same time, something she won't be able to do again.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?
I wasnt surprised at all.
It made me really sad and i was just so astonished that Edward stayed gone. It made me really mad at him.

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?
No. She needed to be where Edward could find her.

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?
Because Jessica was her first friend(besides the guys) when she came to forks.
I guess for what Bella needed she was a good choice. Meaning i think Bella needed someone to talk a lot while she just listened or ...not listened.
Well at first im sure it made Jess feel good that Bella picked her...but once all the drama on the street happened their friendship def took a turn for the worse.
4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?
Just in her head.
I thought it was really stupid. But hey you gotta do what you gotta do. And she needed to do that. It kept her sane for the most part.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?

No, I wasn't surprised at all Forks seemed rather boring with out the Cullens around, but that's just me...

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?

No, I didn't want her to get over Edward, at that point, I still wasn't finished crying myself lol

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

Jess was her first friend in Forks and that was probably a knee-jerk decision. I think since Jess had become cliquey with Lauren by that time, Bella would have been better off with Angela. Jess seemed uneasy around Bella after the "incident" with the strangers in Port Angeles when Bella was having her first delusion.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?
I thought it was him!!! I was sooo mad/upset when I realized it was a delusion!!!!! I would have done the same things she did to hear his voice and when it got to the point where she was about to jump off the cliff, I was like "jump!! jump!!! JUMP!!!" I guess that's kind of stupid to actually want Bella to jump off the cliff but it was worth it in the end!!!!!!! :D

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?

I wasn't surprised at all. It made me sad I thought after the blank pages Edward would be back, but no he wasn't so I was mad at him.

2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?

No, she need to be in Forks so Edward could find her.[oh and the whole Jack thing]

3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?

Jess was her first girl friend in Forks, yeah I thought she was a good choice, in a not to good way.

4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?

I thought it was real. I thought it was dumb, but if thats what she had to do to make herself feel better than okay.

1. Were you at all surprised by the description Bella gave of the dullness that surrounded her life for the past four months? How did that make you feel?
I wasn't surprised at all. I have felt that way before, so I sympathized with her completely. She felt as if she was empty, living life because she had to, but nothing had meaning anymore. All functions completely robotic. It was more disturbing to hear Charlie describe her to Alice later on.
2. Did you agree with Charlie that Bella should go and be with her mother again? Why or why not?
I think her mom should have visited her in Forks. Bella needed stability in her life at that moment and to uproot again would have only set her back. Leaving Charlie would have broken her heart again. Charlie did a good job taking care of her, her mother's bubbly personality would have probably made things worse.
3. Bella chose to spend her first attempt at normalcy with Jessica Stanley. Why do you think she chose Jess and not one of her other friends? Do you think Jess was a good choice? How do you think this event impacted their relationship?
I think she choose Jessica because she wanted something simple. Jessica's thoughts on life right now are that of a normal teenage girl. Bella wanted to be able to shut down her brain again and be normal like Jessica. Also, Jessica was Bella's first friend in Forks, it may have been a comfort thing. It negatively affected their relationship because Bella wasn't ready yet to be like they were before.
4. When Bella first heard Edward's voice, did you think it was REALLY his voice or just in her head? What do you think of her solution to hear his voice more often by putting herself in danger?
At first I didn't think it was really him, just Bella hallucinating. When it kept happening, I wasn't sure. I probably would have done the same thing, just for something else to hang on to. She was going to take what she could get and not complain. Bella is stubborn and she knew Edward would be upset with her if he ever found out what she was doing. I think it was her form of spiting him and missing him rolled together.
